How do you feel that your time as an administrator has contributed to becoming a super administrator:
While my time as an administrator is undeniably short, I feel that I am more than capable of assuming further responsibility within Zarp. In the three weeks of administrating, I have dealt with a plethora of issues ranging from unabashed rulebreakers whose soul intent to is to ruin the user’s experience to new players that lack the understanding and knowhow to properly enjoy all there is to do in SSRP. My experience has not stopped at working with the players of the server as I have and often do work to assist other staff on the servers. Whether it be solving internal issues that compromise the staff’s ability to properly administrate or simply assist them in sits when they are uncertain, I am more than happy and capable of providing guidance. I understand the jump to Super Administrator is a large one that should be difficult to obtain, but I truly believe I can assist in leading the SSRP staff team.
What makes you a good candidate for the super administrator team? ( in this part you can go as detailed as you want):
While my time in Zarp has been short, I feel I am a good candidate for the super administrative steam because I am very active, trusted, have prior experience in leading roles both in gmod/IRL, and am dedicated.
Active
I am incredibly active and almost always accessible. While I often play on S3, unless there are extenuating circumstances, I am almost always able to respond to calls for assistance on S1/2. Even when I am not playing, I am often seen as online on the forums or reachable through steam/text. I pride myself on how accessible I strive to be, showing I am someone that people can reach out to for help, regardless of the time.
Trusted
Before I was staff at Zarp, I held Super Admin on
FP's Jailbreak server and Operator on SSRP two separate times. I understand this is from a long time ago and that Zarp and
FP are not the same community, but some of the individuals that trusted me back in
FP with the power I obtained help in currently leading Zarp and the SSRP team. The dedication and passion I put into
FP that enabled me to climb to where I did is the exact same effort I'm putting into Zarp but with more experience and age behind it.
Here in Zarp, I currently hold Admin on SSRP and if events unfold as I would hope, I am to be a HA for Jailbreak as per Coutinroy and Hazzenator. I understand this is on the low end for many that would seek a leadership role in Zarp, but I only apply for game-modes I am passionate for. I will never apply for a position I feel I could not dedicate myself towards in regards to both time and effort.
To those I have not had the chance to interact with much, I hope this summary gives an idea to how I attempt to carry myself and the image I hope I present to the community.
Experienced Leader
As discussed previously, I am no stranger to a leading role within a community. Even outside of gaming, I have always strived to be an example others can look towards for guidance. This desire to lead and assist is also a major part of my personal life. In any sport or project, I have been a part of IRL, I have always found myself in some sort of leadership role. One achievement that I still find pride in till this day is being the captain, year in and year out, for my high-school baseball team in both spring and summer. The coaches always entrusted in me the title and position of captain because I have an attitude and demeanor that forces me to strive for perfection in all that I do, while encouraging and hopefully inspiring, the same attitude in my teammates.
Dedication
I am an incredibly loyal and dedicated person. I am not a person that waivers and jumps constantly between communities, games, etc. Once I invest my time and person into something, I give it all I can.
FP was the first community I played for and I never faltered in my dedication to it. With
FP being in a constant state of "reboot", there was only one place I thought to spend my time once I had come back to gmod, and that was Zarp. The familiar faces and ties between the communities pulled me in and I have put an immense level of effort and time into being the best staff member and player that I can be for Zarp.
Explain a situation as an administrator you encountered that was an obstacle that required the help of a lead team member but you had to work around it when no lead team member was available:
There have been numerous instances that I've been involved in that require the assistance of lead team member, but there were none currently available. I have had issues involving other staff members that have crossed lines and broke rules that have interfered with my administrative duties and the role-play of users indirectly. The most prolific instance I can remember is one that included multiple fellow admins abusing the button exploit that prop pushing people into the sky in spawn on S3. Not realizing fellow admins were abusing, I simply walked up and removed the buttons and told people to stop prop pushing. One of the admins involved came up to me and asked if it was hurting anyone's rp, to which I countered with that blatantly exploiting in spawn, no matter how minor, sets a bad precedent for anyone playing on the server. This argument continued for a little while until I realized they were not going to concede and admit fault. I reminded the admin that if they continue to break the very same rules we enforce, it will only breed a toxic and unruly player base that they would be at fault for. I asked them how we could expect players to follow the same rules they break right in front of them.
I am more than happy to help and assist fellow staff members in any issue they have, but when it comes to attempting to correct behavior I know is harmful to the server I am limited. It seems in any attempt such as the one described above, the fellow admin does not see me as someone that is trying to help or steer them back onto the right path of action, but rather a competitor to be argued with or dismissed. Title alone does not beget respect; nor would I ask of it to. I am confident that with my years of experience staffing and my ability to properly convey my thoughts and reasoning, that I could be a Super Admin that garners regard from users and staff alike because of my actions rather than my title.
Explain how you would review and handle an abuse report against another staff member:
Thank you for submitting this report
After reviewing the evidence provided and consulting fellow LT members, we have concluded that the behavior and actions displayed by the staff member are not in line with how we expect staff to conduct themselves. With that said, I have reached out to the staff member in question and have discussed the report at length with them to avoid any repeats of the reported actions. This report will be brought forward in the lead team meeting as well for review.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member bans a user for an excessive amount of time, how do you approach the staff member to ensure that everyone is treated fairly?
To handle an excessive ban, I would reach out to the staff member through steam or TeamSpeak to find a time that we could discuss said issue. Once a meeting has been arranged, I would proceed to discuss to ask the staff member to tell me the events that led to them issuing such a heavy ban. This same courtesy, if possible, would be extended to the banned individual as well. Once I feel I have a good understanding of the staff member's reasoning and motive, I would share my own thoughts with them as to show them why such a ban is too harsh a punishment. I would remind them that bans are to be considered a last resort punishment, as we are encouraged to solve issues and work with users, rather than bar them from entering the server. Punishment is often needed, but the reasoning should be sound and fair and other options exhausted before such a lengthy ban is issued.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member is dealing with a user but is struggling to do so in an appropriate manner. How would you resolve the situation?
I would approach the staff member politely and with respect as to not interfere with their sit or undermine their authority. I would then aid and help guide the staff member through the report they are handling. Once the sit is finished, I would ask the staff member if we could chat in a private area or in TS. During this talk, I would then give the troubled staff member my opinion on how they handled the sit and offer them advice on how they can better improve future sits as to avoid future issues.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member accuses another staff member of breaking rules, how would you help resolve the situation?
I would reach out both staff members involved with the intent to listen to and understand their side of the story. Once I feel I have proper understanding of each side, I would move us three into a spacer as to sort out the issues amongst ourselves. Here, I would give each side a chance to tell one another how they perceived the events that transpired. After each side has shared, I would point out if any rule had been broken and correct the offending staff member. If no rules were broken, I would assure them this was a simple misunderstanding and encourage them to look past this issue and take it as a learning experience.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member acts in a disrespectful manner towards another staff member and or sparks an argument within the staff team. How do you resolve the situation?
To deal with a disrespectful staff member, I would request to speak to them privately to discuss their issue. Once in a private chat, I would ask the offending staff member to share their story and explain why they feel the need to disrespect a fellow staff member. After listening, I would remind them that we are a team. It is okay to not share the same beliefs, but it is never okay to blatantly disrespect and create issues within the team as it makes the job harder for everyone involved. I would then ask if they would be okay with bringing in the staff member they have issues with in an attempt to resolve the matter and avoid future conflict. If so, I would encourage each side to share how they feel regarding the incident in hopes understanding can be reached and apologies made.
A
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
You spot a staff member breaking rules to the point of harming other users, how do you approach the staff member?
I would approach the abusing staff member with a level head and explain to them that what they are doing needs to stop and request to talk privately. Once in a private conversation, I would ask the staff member if they understand the extent of the damage their disregard for the rules has created. I would remind them that every time they are seen breaking a rule and getting away with it, their actions undermines every staff member's authority and only works to distance ourselves from our goal of keeping SSRP safe and fun. If the staff member refuses to see reason, I would collect the required evidence and strip them of their rank until a meeting can be had to discuss their behavior.
I greatly appreciate all comments, whether positive or negative. I know there are things I can work on and improve, but sometimes it helps to have people point them out as I can be blind to my own faults and shortcomings at times. Thank you for taking the time to review my app and consider it.
