[TTT] The Complete Guide

When you first start playing TTT, you may be a little confused about what to do, and how the gamemode works. It's incredibly simple! First of all, you will want to go and read the server rules here in order to ensure that you understand what you can and can't do and don't end up becoming a rulebreaker.
Once you have read over the rules, you need to know what to do. When you are playing TTT, there are 3 possible roles, each with a different way to play:
When you are an Innocent, you aim to survive the round and kill all the Traitors. While you are an innocent, you should be actively looking out for anything that you notice which is suspicious. If you notice anything that (by the rules) proves that someone is a traitor, you should call a KOS (Kill on Sight) on that player. In order to call a KOS, there are a few things you could do. You could use the old-fashioned method of doing things where you simply type into chat "KOS <player>", but there are much easier ways to do this. While in-game, if you press F1, a menu will open. On that menu, you will see a sub-menu called "Help". When you click that, there is another sub-menu which is the "Key binder". Inside the key binder, you can click on any of the given phrases in and then choose which key you want to bind it to by simply clicking it. You can easily set any binds, but the most useful ones are the binds to KOS or call a suspicion on a player. Once you have your binds set up, when you look at a player and press your KOS bind, it will say into chat "KOS <player>" automatically! This means that you can very easily ensure that if a player does something and you have to call a KOS quickly, other players will know to kill the player.
As an Innocent, you should also follow what the Detective tells you (within reason, acceptable things for a Detective to make you do can be found in the rules). If the Detective tells you to do something and gives you a reasonable amount of time to follow through, you should do so or you could be KOS'd. This also applies to a "Life check" which could be called by a Detective. When a Detective calls a life check, you should just type anything down into chat in order to notify players that you are in fact alive. If you fail to respond to the life check, you could be KOS'd, so be sure to respond to them in time!
If a player has a KOS on them, you may kill them. Killing Traitors is a good thing, and it will get you points and get you closer to winning the round, but if you kill other Innocents, it will lower your karma. When your karma goes below 1000, it will make you start to deal less damage, and if your karma goes too low, you can get temporarily banned as a result! Killing anyone without a valid reason (all valid reasons can be found in the rules), could result in a warning and a slay from a staff member, so be sure to have a reason before you kill people.
As a Traitor, your aim is to kill everyone without dying yourself. You have a time limit to kill everyone, which you can see in the bottom left of your screen, next to where it says your role. As a Traitor, you have access to the traitor shop, which you can access by pressing ‘C’ by default, or whatever you have set your
“Show Content menu” keybind to. From the Traitor shop, you can buy special equipment which can aid you in killing people. Remember though, if you are seen with a Traitor weapon, you could be KOS’d. There are many strategies that you can use to kill people, but you should stick with one that suits you the best. There are many common strategies such as: trying to play off your kills, trying to not get seen killing or trying to kill everyone so fast that they don’t get caught, and many more. Remember that you can work with your fellow Traitors (if you have any) to try to kill everyone, and remember that you should not be killing your Traitor buddies.
As a Detective, your role is similar to that of the Innocent, but you have a lot of extra tools to help you catch the Traitors. Much like the Traitors, you can press your key for your content menu in order to open up a shop GUI, in which you can buy special equipment. You will always spawn with a DNA scanner which you can left click on a dead body in order to find out who killed it (unless they died too long ago, they killed them from too far away or the player died from a cause which was not directly from another player. You can right click with your DNA scanner in order to remove samples of DNA which you no longer need, to toggle on / off the auto-rescanning or to switch between which DNA sample you will be seeing. Detectives can also force people to do certain things, and all of the things which a Detective is allowed to force players to do (if given enough time) is written in the rules. You are also able to call a lifecheck; you can add a keybind to lifechecks using the ingame key binder, or simple type into chat yourself “Lifecheck or KOS” and you must give players 20 seconds to respond in chat before killing them. In order to respond to a lifecheck, a player can just type anything into chat. Much like as an Innocent, you still need valid reasons to kill anyone, which can be found in the rules, and the ultimate aim is just to survive the whole round.
The Traitor shop contains a lot of weapons, but you can check a brief overview of each of them inside the shop GUI in game.
Here is an overview of the Detective shop, with all of the things that you can buy labelled with what they do:
A: VISUALISER – This will show how a player died, if they died of gunshot wounds.
B: UMP PROTOTYPE – This is an SMG which disorients those you shoot
C: TELEPORTER – Allows you to teleport to locations. Set a location with right click, and teleport with left click.
D: HEALTH STATION – Heals players when they hold E (use) on it. Loses charge when used, gains charge with time.
E: BINOCULARS – Allows you to check a body from a distance.
F: DEFUSER – Instantly defuses a C4.
The traitor tester is something which allows you to test whether or not a player is a Traitor. You must first find the gold block somewhere on the map and put it onto the crafting table in order to activate the tester. A player can walk into the tester and (if the door above and below are both closed), you can pull the lever and the torch will turn red if they are a Traitor and green if they are Innocent. The tester can be trapped, however, making it turn red no matter who goes in. If the torch turns red, it is a good idea to test again to ensure that the tester is not trapped.
As an Innocent, you cannot force players to test, but a Detective can (as long as they give the player sufficient time, which is around 20 – 30 seconds).
The button in the Traitor Tester will drop the player into the lava below. You can do this if you are a traitor and want to kill them or if the torch goes red. If you drop a player when the torch is green, and you are not a Traitor, it counts as RDM.
There is an alternative way to win the game as Innocent / Detective, and that is collecting all of the diamond ore blocks which are hidden around the map. The Traitors can find these blocks too and hide them in order to stop the Innocents / Detectives bringing them all to the furnace (found at the base of the tower) and winning the round.
If you collect all the diamond blocks and put them into the furnace, it will teleport all players to the End above the map and automatically make Innocents win the round.
If you witness a player rulebreaking, and there is a staff member online, you can report them by simply typing !report into chat. A GUI will then open and you can select the player who broke the rule and type in a reason (under 155 characters in order to prevent spam reports) for the report. Wait until the player responds to the report (giving them a chance to explain themselves) and a staff member will be with it as soon as they have a chance.
If there are no staff members online, or all the online staff members are AFK, you can go onto the forums and make a report in this section, ensuring that you use the correct template. An Admin+ will handle your appeal ASAP and come up with a verdict. Ensure that you provide some form of evidence in your report (such as videos), since that makes it much easier to handle.
If you wish to report a staff member for abuse or breaking rules, you should not use the ingame report system. You should go to the same section as for player reports and use the demote request template. Again, ensure that you have some form of evidence, and your report will be reviewed in the following Lead Team meeting. Alternatively, you can make a report directly to a Lead Team member (Super Admin+) if you do not wish to post in on the forums (for example, if you wish to remain anonymous to the staff member you are reporting).
There are a lot of in-game levels, and for certain levels, you can unlock new weapons with which you spawn. You can select these unlocked weapons under F1 > Unlocks, and you unlock new weapons at level 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33 and 37. You can find all of the in game levels in order on this thread, which is updated when the ranks change.
If you wish to become a staff member on the ZARP TTT server, I have already made a guide for that, which you can find here.
I will update this guide if I feel there is anything else I should add, and if you think that anything has been missed out then feel free to tell me and I will add it!
