The policy is fine people make mistakes it doesn't define them as a person. Many great people in this community have been caught hacking in the past including both the community managers. They may never have been CM in this case.
You know who got caught hacking 4 times, twice as staff and he's currently unbanned.

"THE POLICY IS FINE" according to Max, you can get caught hacking 4 times and still get unbanned.
Are you mad?

The hacking policy as is ensures that people get punished if they are hacking they don't get let off. They get 1 chance and they only get said chance if they openly admit to hacking. The percentage of hackers on the server is low and not as many as most of you guys think.
For how low these percentages are, once you start hacking you know you have the ability to face a permanent ban. (Almost) all games do this, take the VAC ban for example.
Cheating in games is never and should never be allowed. Even installing them alone should be bannable not to mention using them.

And as mentioned before, us having to SHOW the proof to the people has saved so many hackers from actually being banned. Like sure, they still get kicked for it but they've done something that any other system would just permban. And not give them the chance to appeal for it. The fact that we let people appeal these bans already shows how forgiving we are in this IMO worst possible offence in multiplayer games..

Once you start using hacks on any server in any game and you get caught, you deserve a permban. Nothing else.
Note : Except for the right to appeal the ban
I stopped reading when you said gmod had VAC.
PEOPLE, GMOD DOE NOT HAVE VAC

Can I ask you guys a question. Are you aware of what the hacking policy actually states?

(If you are lead team please don't answer)

Isn't it something like if you admit to hacking and openly admit to changing you have one more chance to turn off the hacks and play without them, but if caught again you get permanently banned?

How bad is it to give someone just one chance?
Do you mean four?

GMOD does have VAC. It is just manual ban, if Garry decided to trigger a VAC wave most people would be banned...

Hacking isn't NLR. It's not something you can say you didn't knew you were doing wrong. And until you get caught, you just banked a lot of good stuff, like the guy who got enough money to buy VIP from a hack to find easter eggs as soon as they spawned. Hackers should be permanent banned, no exceptions.

I think they should be banned and given the chance to appeal within the week so they get punished the first time. However I think the second time it should be perma

Currently the only thing the hacking policy does is setting
more limits to admins and giving more freedom to hackers.

Hide and seek.

No what is does is stops false bans from occurring. The amount of times an admin has accused someone of hacking because of video is ridiculous if we banned every person who landed a strange shot there would be a lot more bans without any proof backing them up. Think about Tyler he has dodgy videos against him guess what hes not hacking but many admins may have banned him for the shots he gets on people.

There's actually a regular TTT user like that that I - and others - would have permabanned, as they were seemingly hacking. They're not hacking though, and I find it rather disgusting that people would have those users banned rather than giving them the benefit of the doubt.

There is a big difference with "dodgy" and clear evidence.

How will you ban someone that isnt using any visual hacks? Because from what you state you wont ban them, or do you just need to have that higher badge in game in order to ban someone for hacking.

Adjustmens to the policy are needed.

Also would you call this dodgy?

Who knows maybe he got lucky and just guessed where i was.

Right now, I could load up hacks, join the events and farm up tokens and then when or if I get caught, I can just spit out some shit like "I'm sorry it was a mistake I will never hack again" and pretty much get off scott free. When in reality I should be permed, have all of the shit I earned while hacking wiped and stay banned and have the right to appeal in 2 weeks.

The policy needs a change, not to mention because of the current economy, hackers can ruin it so badly considering they could get rich literally just finding a x4 gpp on the map well hidden with their esp or maybe an iridium printer.
