I personally feel slightly hurt that you think the updates are being "steamrolled", and I'm sure Chute would think the same. We're working hard to bring updates that people want, taking into consideration a load of ideas put forward by you and many other members of the community. These updates, no matter how "small" they may seem to you, still take a lot of time for one or two people to code and then test, fixing bugs, making backend improvements and trying hard to keep on top of all the new suggestions along the way as well whilst managing the community as a whole at the same time. ZARP is certainly not dying, and we still have a metric shit ton of ideas to implement, especially ones which we're just waiting on some final fixes on the map from EMP on. We're hoping to bring out an absolutely amazing update this summer which a lot of time and effort has gone into in terms of planning and implementation, and we've already laid out our plans for more gameplay features beyond that which EMP has already started to put together into the map.
What you've mentioned about Patrick is also not true. Patrick was offered payment for what he did and he decided he didn't want anything more than the games that he was being given by Chute. He moved on to a SWRP server because he wanted to work on something other than DarkRP/Downtown maps, which is understandable, and we're still on good terms with him.
If you have issues with specific staff members, feel free to report them with sufficient evidence. You make these complaints against staff but I am yet to see a report against anyone. Yes, Jaden may have appealed a ban, but you and others have not once complained properly about the staff members to anyone on the Lead Team or approached myself, Chute or Jim_Jam with these complaints/concerns if you don't feel comfortable sharing them on the forums or if you feel as though Lead Team members may be biased in any way at all (note the only denied SSRP report this month is this obvious troll from Jaden:
zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/report-ab...demote-request-onion).
I'm personally trying my absolute hardest to keep on top of all of this, but these are all of the things that this requires:
- Keeping on top of updates (code wise)
- Running the community council and keeping on top of suggestions
- Coming up with ideas for updates (working on top of some CC suggestions)
- Managing the community as a whole, including drama which has stemmed from people such as Jusu and Na1 recently
On top of all of this, I am also trying my best to bring events and more community interaction and transparency in the form of my Twitch streams, where I do a shit load of giveaways out of my own inventory, run events on the server to keep people entertained and do my best to interact with members of the community and answer their questions on anything, including our plans and my thoughts on any specific situations (where it doesn't break NDA/TOU of course).
The only people working on updates are myself, Chute and EMP, with EMP working on the map at the moment and I've been trying to deal with the immense amount of drama and toxicity that has come up whilst also having end of year exams for college this week, which I've been able to do absolutely zero revision or work for because of all of this. All of this drama, harassment from certain people and extra work that I have is really not great following a particularly rough breakup recently. Please try to put yourself into our shoes and think about what steps you've taken to address these complaints before you put them across in the "ZARP is dying" and "CM Team don't care" light.
Please note I have not slept tonight
One thing that seems to keep coming up is the fact that there's just you and Chute working on the updates. You end up overworking yourselves and in return this slows down your progress. Maybe it's time to consider hiring/promoting some new developers. Now i know that it's not the easiest of things to do, as you'd need to find someone/people you can 100% trust to put in the right amount of work and not abuse their position, but it seems like the right decision from here on out. Maybe then you won't find that you're constantly overworked and making slow progress.
I still have hope for this community, as do many others, but as it stands currently little is being done to solidify its place in the future. Sticking with a maximum of 3 SSRP developers, with it really only being 2 working on the coding front is a huge flaw in my eyes. You won't be able to keep up with the desires/needs of the community, and the cashflow will slow down thus making it harder and harder to fund more updates.
Anyway, it's not my decision to make, nor should it be anyone's besides Chute, EMP and Xnator. It's something I and many others believe should be considered and hopefully acted upon at some point in the nearish future though.
