TOPIC: ZARP Teamspeak - Private Channels Poll

As we are trialing freely-available private channels on the teamspeak, we'd like to know what the community thinks about them.

Noted Advantages
- Channel is private therefore the owner can speak with whoever they want without interference.
- Channel password can be changed by the owner.
- People can't follow you (harassment has been a previous issue on our teamspeak).
- People can't play music/be annoying/micspam.
- The teamspeak is not a helpline.

Noted Disadvantages
- Newer users may feel unable to socialize (although the TeamSpeak isn't intended to be an ongoing party)
- Less admin availability aside from PM/poke.

I've also noticed that now the entire ZARP sits in private channels instead of helping new Users that join public channels, that's kinda sad. I honestly think private channels should be removed.

I am always on team speak, in my own room, most know the password but if anyone is in need of myself im just a poke away, KEEP AS THEY ARE NOW if i have to go into a public channel where i can hear everyone talking i might aswell not be on teamspeak. Major DISAGREE with any changes

True, if they wish to speak with other people, they could poke the owner of a populair channel to speak with them though.
PM/Poke is enough, just poke the admin, and he can come into a public channel, and both can talk.



Yeah it really has been, this would completely fix it, for example : Adwad's situation, where everyone followed him around, bullying him, and he then kept on saying : I'm going to suicide. (never happened, he was lying)

Things like this could happen again without private rooms, but maybe even worse.

All the other advantages are great aswell.

The private channels is better and we should keep them. Honestly i don't see a reason to remove them, as everybody is able to make a private channel. First of all, it's relaxing to go into a private channel, and speak with the ones you like best.
You can always poke someone if you need them for anything. The private channels are working great, and they shouldn't be removed.

In my opinion you should apply to have a channel, you could just spam like 20 channels

Everyone should just be allowed 1 private channel, maybe 1 or 2 sub channels allowed aswell.

If they spam, they get banned.

I totally agree with Smallville except I think it should be 1 channel and MAYBE 1 sub channel so it wouldn't be abused, and would take less memory on the TS channel, since alot of people will most likely get their own private TS channel.

My personal opinion is that the private TS channels are a good way of filtering people you want to speak to and don't want to speak to and if a player is in need of an admin then they could poke/pm one and we would be quick to respond. Most of the users get the passwords to the private channels when they ask anyway from what I have seen.

I don't think private channels should be removed. However, I do think that only members of staff are aloud them and they must first speak with Chris to see whether or not the channel would actually be useful. I say we need to get rid of the pointless private channels. I do see other high members of staff just removing themselves from the community slowly by going into their own channels and basically sitting in there by themselves. This really does annoy me because that channel serves no purpose other than a different AFK channel.

People like privacy and that shouldn't be taken away from them. Also some people don't get along with others so of course they will go into passworded channels because they don't want to be in the same channel as a squeaker, bully or someone they just don't like.
I'm am going to be honest here if they do get removed people will just go into different teamspeak channels.
Also applying in just a waste of time and people have enough to do already.
I don't see the point in this at all it will just create problems.... also I haven't heard any players actually complain about this.
