TOPIC: Staff Consistency

Staff Consistency 7 years 7 months ago #800734

The main problem I have with zarp at the minute is the consistency, this in the staff team. If two players get a warn from the exact same situation, and appeal it on the forums, one player might get it accepted and one player might not. This is because it's all down to the staff member that handles' judgement on the situation. As you can see this isn't a suggestion post but I would just like to put it out there that this is happening in the community.

exactly,
I feel like maybe warn appeals should be handled by multiple admin+'s as a group to get a fairer outcome.

If you encounter a policman on the street after driving too fast, he might let you get away with a warning or he might fine you, I think we should trust in the jugdement of our staff members.

There is a reason why you can chose which staff member(s) you want to potentially handle your appeal/abuse report

You can't choose someone to handle it, but you can say people that you do not want to handle it:
Users may name people that they do not wish to handle the appeal. If the appealing user states that they do not wish certain staff members to handle the appeal those staff members should refrain from dealing with the appeal.

Something does happen. The staff member in question, if he is actually guilty of mishandling, is told to come and has a small meeting with a higher-ranked staff member to be reminded of how to do his job. If he doesn't take that into consideration and repeatedly breaks ethos or the policies he must follow, he is then put on judgement weather or not he should be demoted.

Zarp doesn't want to just demote people left and right for one case, you know that.

I didn't mean that staff members could be biased towards certain users, I just feel that if there was a range of admin+'s handling together and making a vote for accepted/denied, it would be a better and fairer outcome as there is a variety of judgements towards the situation.

Think you’ll find some people have gotten away with - “I only want Chute or CM to handle this”

Staff members break ethos all the time. Guess what happens to them? Nothing. Im not against them breaking ethos but it sure as hell is annoying

I mean if you were really persistent you could simply name every staff member that isn't the one you want to handle it and say they can't handle it.

I feel like most Staff literally are not fit for the job - so why volunteer?

Reputation and in-game advantages such as more 'friends' or even abuse, also less rulebreaks committed towards them.

95% of the staff team need to be demoted, including the ones that don't have the motivation to do their jobs anymore because of how poor the 'team' is (me).

It's the best method, all staff should be able to use their own discretion when giving out punishments. The other side of the coin would have a list of rulebreaks and punishments that have to be given out for them, but not only would it contradict the ethos and policies, players would also be complaining about them getting a harsh punishment for a small mistake and how it was "unfair".
