[TTT Rule Suggestion] Question on DNA
7 years 1 month ago #679892
Server Name:
TTT.
Suggestion Title:
Add a rule requiring questioning on DNA rather than allowing people to KOS on DNA.
How would it benefit the server:
Currently, you might have a fully vallid reason to kill an innocent, but a trigger-happy detective can just get DNA, kill you, and use that excuse. This detracts from the strategic side of the gamemode and causes it usually to devolve into all-out warfare. It will also take away the annoyance of being innocent, getting ARDMed by another innocent, then getting shot after you kill him because of DNA.
Potential Issues/Exploits:
Could be harder for people without mics.
Additional notes:
Suggestion made because this is not already a thing, according to Tyler.
The rule could look like this:
"If you get DNA on a player for killing an innocent, you must question them, and if they present a valid and non-traitorous reason for killing the innocent, you may not kill them."

I agree with Tyler that the Karma penalty is good enough, as this rule would only slow the game down.
As I said to Tyler, is TTT not mainly based around strategy? It's one of the key parts of the gamemode and it's why a lot of people (including me) play it.

"If you get DNA on a player for killing an innocent, you must question them, and if they present a valid and non-traitorous reason for killing the innocent, you may not kill them."
Any traitor could lie about their reason and get away with killing somebody, this would just make dna completely useless.

You would question to a further extent where lying would be near impossible then. It requires strategy to catch traitors out this way.

Flawed argument, could argue that it requires strategy for Traitors to not leave DNA around

This ruins the whole point of the Detective role. Every situation regarding DNA and it's outcome is up to the Detecive if they are wrong they suffer a karma loss, if you kill someone that tried to RDM you report them and move on. What you are trying to do is ruin the gamemode itself by adding rules that are not needed.
Players could claim in every situation the other person shot first killing masses of innocents and you cannot act on DNA because it would be RDM.
