Server Name: SSRP

Suggestion Title: Metagaming and FailRP rule change.

How would it benefit the server: Would reduce the amount of meta gaming and failrp on the server.

Potential Issues/Exploits: I already consider the current rule an exploit.

Additional notes: So here is what i propose.. Change the metagaming rule and failrp rule and make it a bit stricter. This for example would mean you have to actually know the persons name, or have a valid roleplay reason to put a hit on someone. There has been too many incidents where I am a miner, and someone places a 500k hit on me because they want my slot. This is absurd and is no real RP reason for a hit. Also, using the tab menu to attain someones name should be limited, to only being used for messaging, police duties, and rule breaks. I am not satying remove it, just add stricter rules to using it in certain circumstances.

Personally, I wouldn't like this to be added seeing as the rule has been how it is for years now, and it's a Semi-Serious RP server, we shouldn't make things stricter than they already are. I do like that you're looking to expand the rules and ideas for the server, keep up the suggestions!

As Morgan has already mentioned, we have a Semi-Serious RP server which is different to others. Changing this rule would sway the server towards being a Serious RP server, and the majority of our player base wants to play in the "Semi-Serious" environment. So doing this would be an absurd idea which would change the Zarp player base, which is not a good idea in the slightest, so I will speak for the majority of our player base and say that we don't want this rule changing and it is fine how it is.

I'm weeding out rule breakers. In what life would you out a hit on someone for the lols. None. Even casual RP servers have this rule.

It would swat it for the better. All I'm asking is to tighten the strings on using tab menu as a form of getting someone's name and job so easily. I also want to change it so you have to have a valid RP reason to kill someone. This is not a big thing and would improve RP for everyone.

Okay so what you are saying is no one would put a hit irl for no reason right? What about the killing of JFK, Martin Luther King or w/e your argument isnt valid. Sure they were politicians but they still got killed for a political ideologi is that enough for a hit?

This would just make it more hectic for admins, people making F1's about the other player not having a valid reason to place the hit, and the other person is saying that there was a reason, it would just be to much work to change and deal with. I don't think this is needed, no one has complained up to this point of the rule being there for 3 years so I don't think now that one person has a problem with it that it should be placed.

I don't think this will help anyone least of all staff. I mean, don't get me wrong, your suggestions are good they just don't fit zarp well.

Keep making suggestions as you see them though. Don't be afraid to try to change zarp.

Yes they are valid reasons. I'm not going into politics but people had reasons to assassinate them. What I am proposing is the whole, I want this guys miner job so I'll place a hit because I'm salty. That is an issue.

I do agree with you there regarding the work load for admins. I've seen this rule in place and it works well if managed properly. It's never too late to change anything, you just need to keep trying in order to succeed.

Then the question falls? What is valid?
Would to piss someone off count?
Would to kill someone for a raid?
Because they ask for hits?
Because they are a hitman?
Because they are in a gang?
Where's the definition because by itself, no-reason is still a reason.

You need to think about how this would be implemented and look into the deeper issues.
What would it bring, what would it stop, what issues would it cause now and in the future.
An example of this is the common sense rule, at the time it worked but as the game got more complex it got more convoluted and in the end it was removed.

Never said that. Just restrict the use of it somewhat. Sure, my suggestion wasn't perfect in conveying my ideas, yet it can surely be worked on and polished to make the server a more fun RP environment.

Easy answers to these.
No, No, No, No, No. These are not valid reasons. It would be considered FailRP in some places for a hit an to be running round asking for hits. Fair enough advertising, but not running asking people, "Hey place a hit on someone". Staff discresion would have to be used heavily, and from past experience, if trained properly, a staff members decision is usually a good one.
