TOPIC: Forum suggestion (posting limit)

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this, or how to use the template with it. This seems like the best fit for it though hopefully.

I've been noticing a lot of spam and unnecessary posts on mine and other's staff applications. It doesn't help at all, makes the topic look messy and completely takes away from what it is meant to be, making the time and effort put into the app feel less appreciated and/or thought of.

I'm suggesting that there be a rule of one post per person as that is all that is needed (aside from the poster/applicant themselves). Perhaps this can be implemented into the system somehow? Or just be an informal thing where if a forum moderator comes across too many posts or ones not related to the topic as they spiral off, they can deal with (delete them) and help keep the post on point and less over-saturated.

How will this work on big topics like the meme thread?

We aim to keep our forums as accessible, usable and intuitive as possible - which leaves us open to suggestions however, this would not be a good idea for a number of reasons.

1. We would very likely be removing the ability to discuss things on topics; applications, appeals, reports and even suggestions often prompt lengthy discussions on the matter at hand. Adding a hard-limit to the number of posts would force people to think wisely before posting but it would also mean ‘you only get to say your opinion X times before you are literally blocked from doing so’.

2. This could cause us some real pain if somebody needs to constantly update a topic, i.e. ZARP Memes thread or even an information guide.

3. We have a team of people who, should be checking active topics to make sure all content respects our TOU, if anything, it’s just poor performance from forum staff. Although, you can always get in touch with them directly if you think people are misusing the forum.

i think maybe having the choice to remove posts on your topics would be a good idea.

I never meant for this to be for every section/topic like meme threads etc. Just applications.

Definitely understand what you mean Uzi with discussions etc. Not a good idea to mute, block or limit people at all for that, free speech (within the rules or guidelines) all the way.

As for the suggestion on being able to remove posts yourself, that's essentially making every member a forum moderator. Not so good. Negative or criticizing messages would ever be seen again and we might aswell have Kim Jong Un running the forums.

Was just a quick thought, seeing what would come from such a suggestion
