It wouldn’t ban the person but it would notify all general discussions staff+ telling them that it suspect account x is advertising and links them to the post.

Having the advertisements are really annoying.

You do realize such a system is already in place.

What I’m proposing is a system that is completely different. It detects web addresses in titles (as most of the advertising has the website name in the title) and it alerts all section mod and higher that this is a likely advertisement.

I would like to point out that Chute's latest improvement has massively improved spam bot prevention. Where I used to get a few emails that spam has been detected once or twice a day, I now get thirty to fourty. When these posts are detected they need to be approved and won't be viewable for regular users.

In other words, this system is already in place and with the latest imporvements it works excellently. Obviously it can't prevent everything, but it prevents as much as it can at this time.
