I am From: The UK
Time Spent at ZARP: Almost 5 years
Age: 19
I first joined the ZARP community almost 5 years ago when I was looking for a good TTT server to play. Upon joining the TTT server I fell in love with the ZARP community and the people that were a part of it, so I applied for Moderator on the server. After a few months of proving my staffing capabilities on TTT I was promoted to Super Admin. This process then repeated itself 3 or 4 times until I was promoted to Head Admin in August 2019. Due to the dedication and effort I showed as a Head Admin I was promoted to Server Owner and I have continued this work hard on the server since then. I also played across all of ZARP's servers throughout this time and gained a staff rank on most of them, which only developed my passion for the community even more. I believe these ranks show just how much I love the community and how much I want to see it succeed. I would like to be a Community Manager to help the community much more than I have been able to do with my current ranks.
I have many qualities and skills that make me a great candidate for Community Manager. These are:
Leadership – The ranks I hold in the community have improved my overall leadership skills. Being a server owner of TTT, one of my duties is to look over the staff team and ensure everyone is doing their job efficiently and effectively. I believe I do this very well, with the help of the TTT LT of course. Furthermore, my leadership skills are shown through the organization of testing new content for the server. I frequently get the Lead Team together to test things such as new weapons/weapon balances since that is a vital part of being an owner. I have held my ranks for several months now and I feel my leadership skills are only getting better. As a Community Manager, being a leader and showing leadership skills is essential. I will need to continue all the things mentioned above as well as managing larger projects, such as new servers and expansions to the existing servers.
Friendliness – Whilst playing on ZARP I try to be as friendly as possible to everyone, so they enjoy their time on the servers and have fun overall. I tend to talk to players frequently whenever I am on any server since I believe communicating with the player base is extremely important. This also helps me to address any concerns or suggestions they might have for the servers, specifically TTT since I have the power to make changes there.
Fairness – Whilst staffing on the servers, or dealing with any situation for that matter, I consider all sides of a situation and try to reach an outcome that is favoured by most people. I treat all users and staff members equally since I believe that is a vital part of any community; everyone should be treated fairly. This will be important as a CM when going through community issues, community bans and dealing with any disagreements within the CM team.
Teamwork – Throughout the time I've held a Lead Team role on ZARP's servers, my ability to works with others has improved drastically. I tend to work with others daily when working on TTT because I believe it is important to get as much feedback as possible. This won't change much if I was given CM, it would only be more important.
Professionalism – Throughout my time as Server Owner I have shown how professional I am. Holding a rank as significant as TTT has shown me how valuable being professional is. My professionalism is shown through the meetings I host and though many smaller duties I do as a Server Owner, e.g. managing suggestions, taking feedback from users, etc. I am professional to an extent and when necessary, but I can take a joke without getting frustrated at anyone.
Experience and knowledge of ZARP – During the time I've spent in the community I have become familiar with the policies and procedures in ZARP and I understand them well. From being a server owner, I am comfortable with using ZARP's control panel and I have experience managing one of ZARP's servers. As a Community Manager I will be given access to all the servers on the control panel (excluding SSRP) so having this knowledge will help greatly.
Trust – There would be no point in me applying for Community Manager if I didn’t believe I was trusted within the community. I believe the ranks I currently hold show that I am one of the most trusted members of the community and due to the responsibilities of the CM role, being trusted is one of the most important factors. As a Server Owner I have made many deadlines for myself and I have met them efficiently (with a few delays here and there due to breaking the entire server which we don’t talk about here).
Availability – I am available to contact all the time through various platforms, meaning I'll be around to deal with situations frequently.
My overall goal as a Community Manager will be to improve the community, making as many improvements as possible to help it expand and grow. I want players to have the greatest possible experience whilst playing on the servers and I believe the plans I have will do just that. Since the last Community Manager vote wasn't too long ago, I don't believe there are any outstanding issues or changes that need to be made in the community. The primary focus should be providing content to the servers and keeping on top of the workload required by all CMs. I have a few ideas of changes and additions I would like to see made across the community.
TTT Server 2
With the US host expansion coming within the next few days (exposed), now is the perfect time for ZARP to add more servers and gamemodes. Whilst the biggest priority should be looking at the current servers and updating them with more new features, the anticipation for a second TTT server cannot be ignored. It is something that has been requested many times over the past few years. I believe that the addition of this server will serve as a way for ZARP to bring in new members of the community since the server will appeal to the American players of TTT. In my TTT Owner campaign, one of the major things I suggested was TTT S2 and it's still something I strongly believe in. As a Community Manager, I would like to work on getting this server running and, once it's released, manage it alongside the current TTT server.
To add more variation to the TTT gamemode in ZARP, server 2 will be a map rotation server. To get the initial map pool I have used the most played maps from servers that are high in the rankings. The list of these maps can be found on my Server Owner campaign
here. More can be added/removed depending on the input gained from the community once the server is released and this list of maps is certainly not final. Furthermore, having a variety of maps opens so many opportunities for new content such as traitor & detective equipment without the limitation of a small map. One of the biggest issues with server 2 in the past was staff focussing on playing the second server. However, over the past few weeks, the TTT staff team has been expanding at a good rate, making the chances of this less likely. Additionally, since this server will be on a US host, it's likely to bring more players which we can encourage to apply for staff.
Improvements to the Current Pointshop
It’s safe to say the community’s initial opinion about the new shop wasn’t too great. Although most people have accepted the change and are somewhat happy with the new store, I believe there is still a lot of new features that would be a great addition.
I think the new pointshop system is a great addition to all pointshop servers. I have already given ideas for extra features the pointshop should include such as a shop, trading and a system where players can re-roll their items and they are being worked on for the next pointshop update(s). I believe once these features have been added, the pointshop servers will be the best they've ever been.
The ranks I hold in the community have helped me develop many skills that I believe are essential for any Community Manager to have. Below I have listed the ranks I hold in the community and how I believe these ranks have helped me become the perfect candidate for CM.
TTT Server Owner – This rank has given me a lot of responsibility in the community. It has taught me many things such as how to manage a staff team and how to listen to the feedback given from players and take necessary actions depending on what they want. Further, I am familiar with I would like to use these skills for more servers than TTT and being a Community Manager will do exactly that.
Teamspeak Head Administrator – Talking to the community is important, especially as a Server Owner. I spend a lot of time on the Teamspeak talking to staff and users, and this importance of this will only increase as a CM.
Forum Global Moderator – I am extremely active on the forums and I use them multiple times every day. I read through all posts and ensure they all follow the TOU and I help users with questions whenever possible. I am comfortable with my powers and I'm able to use them effectively. As a CM, I will be given Forum Administrator which will give me extra powers and responsibilities on the forums, so the knowledge I have currently will help a lot with this.
Community Council Member – I am an active member of the community council. Every meeting I bring up new suggestions brought to me by members of the community and I push for the features I believe in to be added. So far, I have suggested many new features to be added across all pointshop servers which were accepted and are underway.
I am campaigning for this position with Jamie. I believe that the ideas we have planned will make ZARP a better and more fun place for everyone. With his main focus and ideas being related to SSRP and mine being for the Pointshop servers, I believe that campaigning with him is the best decision to make for the community. Together we'll have knowledge across all of ZARP's servers and we can use this to our advantage when it comes to deciding on new content and servers too introduce to the community.
