Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario.
Random Death Match, or "RDM" is a term to describe an action done by a player that involves killing a single, or multiple person(s) without a valid reason to do so.
As an example, if John was to kill Steve in the middle of the street without being provoked by Steve, John would be commiting RDM because he randomly killed Steve, without being provoked as to do so.
Explain "New Life Rule" and give an example scenario.
New Life Rule, or "NLR" is a rule that consists of several actions that a player must not perform in a specified time after being killed. This consists of:
- Venturing back to the immediate area of where (s)he was killed.
- The player should forget all that happened in the last life. (Within Reason)
For example, if Steve was to be killed in a raid on John's base, and, without taking any notice of the NLR Timer at the top of his screen, went straight back to the base within the allocated time limit allocated as NLR, he would be breaching the rule. (This also coincides with the 10 Minute Raid Timer Rule, if he was alone.)
Explain "Metagaming" and give an example scenario.
Metagaming is the act in which OOC, or "Out of Character" information is used in an IC, (In Character) context. This could range from the position of a base, and the layout of the inner area, to the area that the mayor is situated.
Just as an example, Steve has just become mayor, and hired John as his personal Guard. If John was to relay information of Steve's whereabouts to the public through OOC Chat and Alex was to see this chat and hunt down the mayor based solely on this information, Alex would be Metagaming.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for RDMing him, the console log shows that player y killed player x.
1. Ask for proof of the accusation from Player X.
2. If Player X does not have any proof, I cannot enforce any punishment on player Y.
(Even though the Console Log may state that Player Y did in fact kill Player X, it may have been a raid or a mugging gone wrong, so therefore without proof, I wouldn't take action and would dismiss the two players.)
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for breaking NLR, the kills are pretty close together in console (a few lines apart) at a peak time.
1. First and foremost, ask Player X for some additional proof in the form of Video/Screenshots.
2. If Player X does not have any additional proof, I cannot enforce any punishment on player Y.
(I feel that when it comes to NLR at peak times, the console should be the first source of suspicion, not the final verdict. I think that to an extent, it always comes down to proof.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x calls for help in the OOC chat because his bank is being raided.
1. Teleport to Player X and wait for a quiet opportunity to confront him/her.
2. Talk to the player to discuss the subject of meta gaming, so that they understand.
3. Depending on the amount of times the Player has done it, the punishment would be variable.
(I think that making sure a player knows and understands what Metagaming is, or for that matter what any terminology or rule is, is the first step towards creating a less hostile environment.)
Why I should be chosen (we recommend around 150 words).
I think that I should be chosen to become a moderator for the ZARP Gaming SSRP server(s) because I'm active quite a lot on server two and spend most of my free time with a couple of friends making money and catching criminals.
I see a lot of Rule-Breaking going on on the server, and as much as I report it, I'd really like to be able to deal with it there and then. I feel like I've gained so much from this community in the way of endless hours of fun, and even making a few new friends that I'd like to give something back. I feel that applying for moderator is the best way.
