Explain how you feel that your time as a moderator will contribute to you becoming an admin: My time as moderator will contribute to me becoming administrator because during this time I have enhanced my knowledge of the rules, been able to help a lot of players with their surfing, and gotten a stronger knowledge of how and when to use commands

Explain a situation as a moderator you encountered that was an obstacle you had to work around (EG: defiant user):

I never really encountered any obstacles as players on surf are usually quite nice, keep to themselves and just have a good time surfing, However in the occasion of coming into an obstacle I believe being an administrator would allow me to handle it better as I'd be able to have a wider range of commands such as ban so that I could deal with them better if they were to continually break a rule as I might not be able to get in touch with an admin if there are none online and kicking doesn't always work since they can just rejoin and continue breaking the rule with minor consequence.

If you had to write a letter to train a moderator in between 100-200 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp?:

Hey congratulations on getting accepted, Here's a brief rundown of the commands to get you started!

If you open up the leaderboard and click on a player you'll see the following commands;

- Chat Mute This command will stop the player from typing in chat for the specified amount of time. (10s, 30s, 1m, 5m, 10m, Indefinitely)

- Kick This command removes the player from the server allowing them to rejoin immediately.

- Voice Mute This command will stop the player from using voice chat for the specified amount of time. (10s, 30s, 1m, 5m, 10m, Indefinitely)

- Strip Weapons This command will remove the weapons from the player, This can be used if they are using the weapons to be an annoyance.

- Sharing Check This will check if the user is using a family shared version of the game, If they are it will ask you if you want to ban them, you should click Yes.

- Spectate The spectate command is useful if you're helping someone surf but you don't want to completely fuck up your own run, When using this command you will be watching the other player however your position will remain, Unlike the regular spectate which makes you start again.

Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that Staff Member x banned them permanently for Exploiting, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?

Hello PlayerX, Thank you for taking the time to make this appeal I can see you've put a great amount of detail into it, after speaking with Staff member x we have decided to reduce your ban to X days meaning you will be unbanned when that period is over, If you proceed to exploit upon your return the ban will return too.
#Accepted
Thanks for playing :zarp:

Why I should be promoted (we recommend around 100 words): I believe I should be promoted because I am helpful and active, I generally try to play at least two hours a day to ensure consistent and high activity during that time ensuring I am helping anyone no matter how small their problem, I have a good knowledge of the rules and how to handle players who are breaking the rules, I try to gain and maintain a good relationship with players in the community through helping them and talking to them whilst they are online making them want to stay on the server longer and possibly play on some other gamemodes within the community.

Extra Information: (Not Required) I attended a meeting last time I was staff, but I'll probably attend this weeks one as well.

Can there be a mandatory time period that prevents people applying for promotion just after they've been appointed to a role? People who were accepted less than 5 days ago are already so eager to climb the roles without actually doing anything in between. The first two points hinge around this users experience during their moderation, how can they provide meaningful evidence of this in so little time? There's no way to have a accurate gauge on a persons performance in this period.

  • Explain how you feel that your time as a moderator will contribute to you becoming an admin:

Please can there be some form of rule that prevents people chain applying week after week.

I mean surely if they dont have enough experience as moderator theyll just get denied? You see it quite a bit on applications when people are recognised to not have enough time in a certain staff position to move on.

I have been staff in the past on many servers using FAdmin, I am currently Administrator on TTT which shows I am capable of staffing with more power within the server(s), Rightfully those are different servers with somewhat different rules and such however I have also been ex-staff on Surf also showing that I am capable of staffing on surf, Understandably I haven't had a "obstacle" but in all fairness it's surf, I have many hours on surf with many communities on both gmod and csgo and truthfully I can say I doubt I have seen any of those servers with a player so defiant that it was considered an obstacle.

However, with all that said if you believe there should be a minimal time after applying before going for a higher rank, I'd suggest speaking to a CM or making a suggestion.

Box is a great admin on TTT so it goes without saying that I support him.

In terms of what euan said I can definitely see how you'd want someone who is dedicated to receive a promotion and even if you are capable you haven't had the chance to prove your dedication yet. At this point it'd up to the Surf admins and their judgement

This wasn't meant to be personal to you so I hope you haven't taken it that way. More a criticism of the process. As you have past experience and I see you a lot on surf; seem like a great guy and would love to see you be made admin. I was just concerned at how the process is currently carried out. Maybe we can discuss it on Friday in the Surf meeting? Happy to talk about it more here but do not want to derail your thread too much!

Thanks for applying for staff at ZARP Surf! During our weekly staff meeting your application, question answers, game trackers and in-game attitude are checked and then the staff team votes on your application.

Congratulations!

The staff team has voted to accept your application, which means you’re now a part of the ZARP Surf staff team.

Before you get started, a staff member will help train you on the server and get you setup with your new rank.

There’s a weekly staff meeting for the server every Friday at 8PM GMT, which is held on the ZARP Teamspeak server (IP: ts.zarpgaming.com). You now get a vote on the new staff members and we’ll keep you up to date with new events and server updates at the meeting.

Congratulations and thanks for supporting ZARP!
