My name is Morten & I'm 22 years old turning 23 next September. I live in Denmark & I'm currently working as an "apprentice"/trainee Data Technician where I'm about halfway through my education (3/5.5 years). I specialize in infrastructure (Servers, Networking, etc.) For the past half year or so I've been given the opportunity to teach networking for IT-Supporters/Data Technicians on the side who are just starting out which has been quite interesting. I can be slightly hesitant sometimes double-checking facts and what not, which may cause a slower response. I used to be rather quiet, those who’s known me from the start would note that I didn’t use my microphone much, though I’ve greatly improved on that (both in game and on TeamSpeak). Though I'd like to point out that it was mostly because of the fact that I just didn't interact that much with the staff team two years ago.
I’m a dedicated hard-working individual who takes his work serious while also trying to “keep things fun”. I believe that I’ve shown that I’m more than able to carry my own weight whilst trying my hardest to cooperate with others, though if worst comes to worst I will carry out the tasks by myself if I must. I have a good attitude towards others and my work plus I’m mature when I have too. I’m an experienced “Zarp Veteran“ who knows the rules very well and try to clarify them when needed or even changed if necessary. I will be going a bit more into detail in the topics below.
I'm always kind and honest to other staff & players, I treat everyone fairly and equally. If there's anyone asking any questions I will to be helpful by answering them to be best of my ability. I highly doubt that anyone has ever seen me “throw a fit” at someone. I try my best not to be biased towards others or in anything I do, I’m very forgiving, and believe in second chances. If given the opportunity I will give the most lenient “punishment”. I take my work serious but also try to have fun at the same time. If you feel differently about my attitude it is most likely a misunderstanding as I would never intentionally say something to hurt anyone. I think the things stated above is reflected in my job as an IT-Supporter (now Data Technician) as I deal with a lot of people who can be quite stressed & unhappy at times.
I’m active on the forums and check it as often as I can/multiple times a day (I don’t always post on each and every thread only when I feel like it’s necessary or when something has been left out). I attended as many meetings as possible and believe I’ve only missed two over the past half year (one of which were out of my hands because I became terribly ill over Christmas). My current Lead Team position shows my dedication to helping the community where I keep a consistent activity and fulfill my staffing duties to the best of my abilities, though I have been dedicating a lot of time on my own little project for the past couple of weeks which has now been implemented on the
[TTT] Information Thread (there are still a few things that I'd like to clean up in there but I'm taking one thing at a time). I am on TeamSpeak & TTT daily to talk, interact with the community and to be contacted about anything. I will obviously be on both Steam and Discord throughout most of the day following ongoing conversations and requests. Lately I haven't been on as much Monday-Thursday because of work ramping before summer vacation, but I'll be on a lot more once that's over in two weeks.
I have been staff within the community for half a year now in my current sitting and been administrator twice in the past for about 3 months both times. Over the past 7-8 years I have accumulated 2087 hours on Garry's Mod (ninety percent of which are on TTT). I used to hold a higher-ranking position on a different community 6 years ago with very similar responsibilities to my current rank which I held for about 10 months. I have gained a lot of experience through staffing over the years (handling reports in-game, handling appeals, report abuse, helping out other staff members, dealing with cheaters and Ghosters, discussing the rules, reading through dozens of applications, contacting people, bringing people up, etc.). This includes helping users and staff members who need clarification or have any TTT related questions. I won't go fully into detail on these subjects as I feel I'd just be repeating myself (and it would take forever to note everything). Throughout the past 2 years being with the community I’ve never been abusive or anything of the sort and therefore believe I’m very trustworthy.
Last week I handed out a ban that had an invalid ban length in some people’s eyes. I had interpreted the ethos differently than they, I had asked many other current and past staff if they thought the permanent ban was okay and none disagreed, I had even been informed that the victim had been told that it was his last chance prior to the ban. I feel that some believe there was ill intent behind the ban but can assure you that, that was not the case, at least not on my part (I told people to stop speaking badly of the victim and tried to warn him before his recent punishments went out of hand). All in all it was an unfortunate situation but that’s what happened, and I now know better and believe I’m on the same wavelength regarding how we take users punishments into consideration when banning them. I’m sorry if I was part of the cause for all the drama that unfolded by handing out the ban, it was not my intention and I tried my best to help stop the "chaos".
As a Head Administrator I would be more capable with catching cheaters by having access to a better Anti-Cheat, I often find myself being the first Lead Team member to the scene when there's a suspect on the server. I’d obviously be able to help with requests from fellow staff members such as removing falsely given punishments and application replies after the meeting. To add a little bit to this I feel I’d be influential and have more to say which would improve my current workflow and be more beneficial to the Server.
I will be better able to deal with either inactive staff or staff who aren’t fulfilling their duties by hopefully making them improve but ultimately if necessary warn/demote them by bringing them up in the meeting. This is something that I’ve been pushing hard on for a while now and believe that the current Head Administrators aren’t doing good enough on ATM (this is mainly if not only regarding Super Administrators). To give an example of this I have been asking other Super Administrators if they want to handle certain tasks like contacting staff members who weren’t able to reach their minimum requirements or if they want to fill in the spreadsheet etc. (basically just trying to kick them into gear). For the first 8ish weeks of me being a Super Administrator I was basically filling in the spreadsheet by myself, even after attempts to get others to help/ “pull their weight”. That is no longer the case though we do have a lot more administrator helping as well now, so I can’t say for sure if the problem has been improved upon.
I still plan on actively sourcing out people on the server who I deem fit for staffing and try to push them to becoming staff. I will continue to improve/make tools for the TTT community/staff team such as: improving the OneNote, making and improving guides such as the Lead Team Worksheet that I’ve been working on for the past 2 months, “Recommended tasks to become Super Administrator”, “Kim’s” guides, etc.
I wish to create a Lead Team where everyone can work together as a team and communicate properly, all be on the same page, have an understanding regarding rules, the way we handle certain things like applicants, trainings etc. (I’ve tried my best with this but will obviously continue to do so). Of course, getting the server back to the number one spot would be nice but it will not be a primary focus of mine more so a niche thing that could come with ensuring everyone's having a great time on the server.
Thank you for reading my application.
Any kind of feedback is appreciated, especially if there's something I can improven on!
