TOPIC: Locking threads

I know it isn't my place to say but please stop locking so many threads that do not need to be locked. I know from experience this stems discussion and can kill a forum. Only lock threads that REQUIRE no further discussion. Examples are things like:
a hot subject, like gay marrige. Something like this can tear a community appart
A flame war/heated argument.
Don't lock them please, the second time I was unable to respond because of a locked thread sparked this.
