TOPIC: The Economy

The Economy 4 years 5 months ago #1234191

Sorry for posting multiple topics, and I know this one is probably gonna be a minefield - especially as it's been made fifty billion times, but I'm curious as to what exactly happened in terms of the sudden influx of dozens of billions.

I was told by someone (not naming who) that a certain gang (not naming which one) was printing with a large amount of alts and would do so for days on end. But I remember another gang doing this in the past and it didn't have half the effect. I recognise that certain printers are stronger now, and for a while, there were a lot of people buying nothing but printers and trips/quads, but I'm curious as to your thoughts.

Also, side question: Are there places on the server that are unraidable? Because I'm just wondering why more people didn't raid the bases in question if this was such a huge issue.

Disclaimer: Please note that I'm not making this topic to start shit. I've purposely omitted names to try to help that. I'm only asking because I'm wondering if there's any truth to the claims. Please be respectful.

Also just realized I put this in general discussion and not SSRP, my bad

Bunnyslippers made this suggestion to try and help amend the situation - please check it out: zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/server-is...isallow-alt-printing

Jay House giga print but it seems to be more from the ridiculous boosterpack sales that get put on way too often, along with the golden giveaways.

I take partial responsibility for this. I tend to buy boosters whenever the sales happen. I also don't help matters by then selling the cases on for cheap. There might be a lesson there about how doing something nice isn't always the right thing.

I'm off for a week so I won't be tempted by the devil to give cases away for cheap... Or just for free.

Honestly, alts should've never been allowed.
dont @ me.

Its impossible for a new player to actually succeed and enjoy the roleplaying of the server anymore.
The other day I hopped on as a simple gangster trying to nuke, and someone in a weird looking suit with 3 lives flew in cuz they saw my nuke on the scanmaster. bruh.

- In the past, special printers/boosters were very expensive relative to the average amount of money a player had
- In the present, you can buy special printers for cheaper than you can buy a printer hacker 2.0 to pick them back up again

- In the past, people tended to use maximum one alt per person but as it currently stands, multiple people have decided to use upwards of 5 alt accounts each which obviously introduces stupid amounts of money into the economy daily. This allows people to print up to around 5b (if not more) per day if you quad boost every printer.

- In the past, there was a lot of gang competition. There would be constant raid attempts by enemy gangs which resulted in the destruction of the bases, items being lost and suits being ripped. This in turn increased the price of the printers/boosters/items/suits and so helped spread the money around the active playerbase. At the moment, there is barely any gang competition. You can base for a good 3 days straight withouth seeing any attempt of a raid. This means people can just keep producing money, without the risk of losing their items and printers. This means certain players end up holding a very large percentage of the wealth as they have no need to spend it in others shops as they already have the items they need.

TL;DR - Alt accounts and no gang competition = giga inflation

People print with 10+ alts with the best printers and boosters and cause billions to be printed per day. its incredibly easy and alts should be limited to small numbers or even better, not at all. but we all know this will never happen, They appreciate the gametracker too much.

ive been hard abusing this for over a year now whenever i played and my return is probably quite a big factor in the current inflation, i made 50bil in 5 days and i know for a fact my bases in 2019 used to just pour huge amounts of money into the economy because i was basically friends with everyone so they continued as long as my pc could handle

alt accounts simply just shouldnt be allowed, theyre disgustingly bad for the economy and provide nothing outside of a playercount boost, speaking from the point of view of someone using 8 alts right now

bruh just implement a GTAO mechanic fee - easy fix!

But seriously, when your entire economic model is fixated on injection rather than leakage, don't surprise pikachu me. @Bunny's post is also interesting in relation to competition as it seems the ratio of risk factor to reward is non existent.

Mummy Suit. Yeah, can you believe that when it was released, it was even more OP?
I can understand entirely where you're coming from. I don't raid or base usually, as I'm pretty bad at both. But if I were to do so, it'd be very easy to get demolished by the 6+ players in the base *all* with mummy suits, *all* with dark matter guns, *all* with tacs placed down in the event they don't use any suit. Alternatively, it's the same problem for anyone else trying to raid.
TL;DR - Alt accounts and no gang competition = giga inflation

Jamie, as an example, used to spend upwards of half an hour raiding ele bases in server 3. He wouldn't stop until the base was destroyed, usually. And it was unlikely he'd fail because even with everyone defending non-stop, Jamie would have at least two or three people on his side.

I remember people would shoot the side of the Nexus building in server 3 with a predator electric round. It was obviously against the rules, but people would usually find some way to go around it. People can't do that with the ele base in Server 1.

I'm not on ZARP as much as I used to be, but when I am, and when I was about when the printing was going on for quite some time, you're right. None of this competition was occurring. No-one was raiding. It's all well and good to help each other get rich, but if everyone's basing, money becomes near worthless because you don't work half as hard to get it as you did back in like 2016 or 2017.

very true, there is no removal of disposable/excess income large enough to account for the sheer amount of money added to the economy each day and with items being much harder to generate than cash, there's bound to be inflation over time

What would people prefer?

1) Things to stay the same.

2) Alts to be removed.

3) More money sinks.

4) The idea that has been buried for a while because apparently it's unfeasible - ZARP Classic WITH a separate, fresh database.

5) Printers to be nerfed - maybe given a set time limit before they overheat and explode?

6) A combination of any of the above.

there's no genuinely viable money sinks & alts are a big cause of the issues so 2 & 3

This is why a lot of people left. The point of the game was just taken away. Okay you have 100 billion... now what? You have all the suits... now what?
Real competition is unavailable because nothing is fair at the moment. Players who randomly click on the server and see if they like it, leave after a few minutes because they feel like they don't have a chance.
The game is eating itself alive. Hence why it is so dead.

You're right. Not only is the economy overwhelmingly intimidating to any new player, but all the weapons and suits - while cool concepts and are fun to mess with, make it extremely difficult for any new player to get an edge.

The other day I put a hit down on someone for 10 mil. Someone killed them, it was a new player and he then jumped about the place, screaming that he was rich. Do you remember the days when 10 mil felt like a lot of money? It's actually a really nice feeling, and not one you can get nowadays.

This server needs more competition this is the biggest reason why its so boring and not enjoyable both for me and the people i play with, people hold billions in their bank and multiple items in their inv and they are not put to use.

If you're in the right gang you simply can farm scus all day without losing much and it gets boring after a while..

They should make a rule against alt accounts and make it so you can only ally with one gang.

Well currently, like everyone else stated its cause people print with many alts and as they are literally injecting more and more money into the economy, causing inflation.

Even without a complete restart, better progress can still be made in terms of the economy.
1) Disallow alts for printing - literally decrease the money continuously being injected
2) Improve casino system (Nikos suggestion) / rare item store to provide a money sink, and add more items into the economy. This will also work as imposing almost like a price maximum so people can obtain more of the items, so people will use more items = fun. The prices have to be reasonable though, not too high or too low for this to work

Items such as suits, gluons, mini 2's, dark matter guns, etc are often used by players and therefore also often ripped. This means that perhaps having a "bot shop" (Casino would act similarly) to sell these often-used items for reasonable prices such as (180M) per gluon or lower will increase their numbers. Obviously prices have to be put in thoughtfully, as prices too high will just be ineffective and people will just buy from other players. Implementing such a thing will provide a money sink + more people have weapons which they are now more confident to use + This leads to more action, more fun = better server. These are easy to implement features, so I do not understand why this wouldn't be their priority
