The only BR game that I can remember that actually took the game mode and made it unique without blatantly ripping it off was The Culling and Darwins Project. The only other game that copied another game but made it their own was Overwatch copying TF2 and making it completely unique.
Fortnite clearly has a different appeal than PUBG and/or other similar shooters similar to the latter. It has fast paced gameplay, compared to PUBG's slow , """""tactical"""""" gameplay. It's not a copy whatsoever, you can't say a game is a copy if it's using a similar format to deliver a very different experience. Overwatch didn't "rip off" TF2 because on a similar format it delivered a different experience, even though the end goal , when it comes down to it, is the same.
If you can't see that Fortnite literally ripped the PUBG format with some additions then you're beyond stupid. It's like saying Paladins totally didn't rip off a lot of abilities from Overwatch.
That's a terrible comparison, FPS games have many different routes they can go and battle royale is a very limited game-mode when it comes to the base of it, the whole purpose of Fortnite is building and PUBG lacks that, they made their own twist on the battle royale gamemode. Have you ever seen the BR Arma mod btw? Or H1Z1? How did Fortnite rip PUBG when there was a game before it and a mod that were successful doing the same thing?
And before anyone chats shit, I don't even play Fortnite. I used to for a few weeks but got bored of it like all other br games.
The creator of PUBG created the BR Arma mod, and was hired by daybreak to create H1Z1. Both were his works, you would know this if you bothered to read my first reply on the thread. Fortnite ripped the format from all of them.
When did I say he didn't create them all? lol. That's completely besides the point. You're comparing PUBG to Fortnite when the base gamemode is the same, sure. But they're very different types of the battle royale genre when it comes down to it. I don't know why you're saying the word format, it's simply the same genre of game. That's it.
Fortnite took the idea of Battle Royale, and just made an all around better game that isn't clunky, buggy and laggy.
