The problem is a bit more complicated than that.

If I remember well one article I read earlier today, the two companies owning their respective game were both working on some stuff for PUBG.

The latter claims that Fortnite's company, working with some stuff, like graphics, had access to some data and ideas that could have been "copied" to benefit their own project, Fortnite.

If anyone can find a link in english ... I just hope I'm not mistaken on this.

Either way, it's ridiculous and a desperate move.

You have two games :

1) One costs 30€ + cosmetics you have to pay

2) The other one is free but you have to pay for cosmetics

I hate both games. But take some hindsight, and do the math.
Pretty simple to understand why one of them is getting worried at the success of the other.

I also like suing a guy who based his game on my game that was based on a ARMA III Mod that was based on a movie adaptation of a book called Battle Royal for copyright infringement

The only BR game that I can remember that actually took the game mode and made it unique without blatantly ripping it off was The Culling and Darwins Project, shit Fortnite is even copying the whole The Culling vending machine shit too to an extent. The only other game that copied another game but made it their own was Overwatch copying TF2 and making it completely unique.
