What you are about to read is an opinion, if you don't want to hear my opinion then dont read it. Disagree with it whatever, its what I think. I left the staff team but I cannot say I've left the community, I still hang around the forums, and jump in game every once in a while, but it's nothing compared to what I used to do.
Staff was a shitshow, people got silenced for voicing their opinions, nothing much ever really changed, I don't like sitting in spacers, no more gang action, losing friends because you do your job as staff, boring gameplay because all you could really do was nuke once in a blue moon when the server hit over 20 people just for NO one to raid idk. It all just led to me slowly losing interest. The thing I like most about zarp is the community and the people, but people start so much drama for literally 0 reason, people start talking shit for 0 reason, and it all just becomes a shitfest. I won't lie everyone is guilty of shit talking for 0 reason and just talking shit because you can, some people legit come on zarp just to talk shit. Also its damn near impossible to come fresh into the server and get good weapons and suits without paying money or coinflipping, and once people pay money and get a suit, some older player comes and RDMs it or sweats their balls off to rip it (getting their gang to place hits, forcing a player into KOS because they dont know the rules all that well) stuff like that. Surely Ill still stick around the forums and whatnot but getting on the server to see half the people AFK just isnt fun. I miss the old maps, something the community really liked and wants to give another chance, but that wont happen and we all know that, things just aren't changing. The summer update will bring players, but I don't think it will bring back players.
Two last things I would like to talk about is all the events happening and the requirements for LT, It's nice to see, but people often just complain about it and I don't think so much time and effort should be put into it just for them to get looked down on. I participated in the wipeout event and most of the time it was just a shitshow in the waiting room while people waited 30 min to 1 hour to get a shot at completing the course. It's an attempt to bring players on the server but if people don't want to play, they wont. Those events are now mandatory for Lead Team members and I can say it was part of the reason I left. I live in California, 8 hours behind most of you, I have school, I cannot host a zarp event at 12pm in the middle of the week... Now, for an admin to apply to Super Admin, for some reason it doesn't matter how much you staff, It doesn't matter how much effort is put into the server by you, it's your connection to the LT. How often you sit with them in TeamSpeak, how often you help with their events, it doesn't matter about your playtime, report count, forum RA/Appeal count, its legit your if you're friends with LT or not, and I hate that. I remember getting denied back in march because I didn't communicate with the lead team and they "didn't know my background", yet I had the highest report counts, I did 90% of the appeals/reports on the forums, and I didn't really have a background. There was only 1 more person that did reports and appeals, it was Happy_Dead but he resigned. I never sat in TeamSpeak for over an hour and that held me back from getting Lead Team the most. I applied with good odds about 4 more times but then I ruined it for myself later on. I went off topic a bit sorry but, basically you need to sit in TeamSpeak for hours a day to get SA, and help with events. Two things that really aren't requirements but apparently are. I don't like seeing people get denied because they aren't best buds with the people of the LT, yet it happens 95% of the time. I remember Xnator saying the LT is all about communication and how well you communicate with each other (in TeamSpeak) but I don't feel like thats it at all. I rarely used TeamSpeak in the end of my staffing yet I did my job just fine, looking over the staff team and making sure everyone doing what their supposed to be doing. I used the LT chat in discord more than I used teamspeak. I really just think that using TeamSpeak and helping people with events shouldn't be a requirement to get SA but it is and I know that wont change. A lot of things don't change, and that is probably why I slowly lost interest/lost the motivation to play.
Agree with quite a bit of stuff here, from experience, lead team is finding people who don’t fuck up often but also either can’t be bothered to argue when a higher up says an opinion you don’t agree with, or just agrees with it regardless. Yes, a lot of getting to lead team is just spending time in spacers with lead team however I found it was lesser so with prop hunt as it didn’t have much lead team when I was promoted. With deathrun, it was a lot more popular and it seemed the decision heavily relied on your relations with the lead team, not a good thing from a democratic standpoint but honestly, I see the logic that the lead team should be able to talk to you easily and know something about you as a staff member, however this usually meant that the most productive staff who don’t want to spend ages in spacers are overlooked
