Surf Tournament:
Idea by
Foreword:
Rittsu and I really enjoying surfing and want to improve the server as much as possible to offer fun and challenges to all of its players.
Both Rittsu and I experienced that surf can often be boring, once you have finished almost all maps.
Therefore we think that offering something which would change things up a bit, would be a good idea!
We came up with the idea of a
Surf Tournament which would be held either
every week or
every month.
The tournament would then be open for the span of either the
week /
month
and would end in the "
crowning" of the winners.
The winners will be offered
various prices (
I will go into detail about the prices soon)
.
Structure:
The tournament will be divided into two groups.
Each group contains three different tiers, which will be randomly assigned once.
Fore example:
Group A
Tier 3
Tier 5
Tier 6
Group B
Tier 1
Tier 2
Tier 4
This means that in the first Week / Month the tournament will contain one map of
Tier 3, Tier 5 and Tier 6.
The second Week / Month would contain one map of
Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 4.
This cycle will then repeat.
Important to note is, that this doesn't mean, that there is a chance, that one Week / Month the tournament only contains a Tier 6 map.
In the duration of the tournament all three tiers of each group will be represented by one map (randomly picked) each.

This should give you a basic understanding of how the tournament is supposed to work.
But how will the tournament work in terms of recording time etc.?
For this we came up with the idea of a Tournament mode which will be located on F3.
As you may have guessed, the Tournament mode will be a own style.
You can only select this mode when you're on one of the three current Tournament maps.
For example:
Normal F3-Menu
Tournament F3-Menu
Tournament entry notification
The Tournament mode will work like the normal mode, with the difference that your time will be stored in a separately "Scoreboard" once the Tournament is over, the times will be deleted.
Example for the leaderboard
Prices:
The following prices, are first thoughts and may change in the future.
Each Week / Month we will assign the Tournament a fix Price Pool = x.
First Week / Month:
Price Pool = x
Explanation:
Each Tier in one group will recieve a percentage cut of x.
This percentage cut will then be further splitted for each place.
For Example:
x = 100.000 Diamonds
Tier 3 will get 20% of x (100.000)
Tier 3 = 20.000
Tier 5 will get 30% of x (100.000)
Tier 5 = 30.000
Tier 6 will get 50% of x (100.000)
Tier 6 = 50.000
Those Diamonds will then be splitted:
Tier 3 (x3 = 20.000):
Place 1 gets 60% of x3 (20.000)
Place 2 gets 25% of x3 (20.000)
Place 3 gets 15% of x3 (20.000)
Place 1 gets 12.000 Diamonds
Place 2 gets 5.000 Diamonds
Place 3 gets 3.000 Diamonds
Tier 5 (x5 = 30.000):
Place 1 gets 60% of x5 (30.000)
Place 2 gets 25% of x5 (30.000)
Place 3 gets 15% of x5 (30.000)
Place 1 gets 18.000 Diamonds
Place 2 gets 7.500 Diamonds
Place 3 gets 4.500 Diamonds
Tier 6 (x6 = 50.000):
Place 1 gets 60% of x6 (50.000)
Place 2 gets 25% of x6 (50.000)
Place 3 gets 15% of x6 (50.000)
Place 1 gets 30.000 Diamonds
Place 2 gets 12.500 Diamonds
Place 3 gets 7.500 Diamonds
This logic will also apply for Group B:
x = 100.000 Diamonds
Tier 1 will get 20% of x (100.000)
Tier 1 = 20.000
Tier 2 will get 20% of x (100.000)
Tier 2 = 20.000
Tier 4 will get 60% of x (100.000)
Tier 4 = 60.000
Those Diamonds will then be splitted:
Tier 1 (x1 = 20.000):
Place 1 gets 60% of x1 (20.000)
Place 2 gets 25% of x1 (20.000)
Place 3 gets 15% of x1 (20.000)
Place 1 gets 12.000 Diamonds
Place 2 gets 5.000 Diamonds
Place 3 gets 3.000 Diamonds
Tier 2 (x2 = 20.000):
Place 1 gets 60% of x2 (20.000)
Place 2 gets 25% of x2 (20.000)
Place 3 gets 15% of x2 (20.000)
Place 1 gets 12.000 Diamonds
Place 2 gets 5.000 Diamonds
Place 3 gets 3.000 Diamonds
Tier 4 (x4 = 60.000):
Place 1 gets 60% of x4 (60.000)
Place 2 gets 25% of x4 (60.000)
Place 3 gets 15% of x4 (60.000)
Place 1 gets 36.000 Diamonds
Place 2 gets 15.000 Diamonds
Place 3 gets 9.000 Diamonds
There is also optional extra prices which could be added to the Diamond prices:
Group A:
Group B:
Important note:
The rainbow tag will only be shown on the map the person got First Place on and will expire,
once the map is played again in the tournament.
End of the Tournament:
Once the tournament is finished, the winners will be declared in the Forum and at the F1-Menu.
The winners are then able to claim their prices.
