I personally feel this couldn't be more obvious he was a T, I received a warn. I don't care for having it removed as it was for a rule that does exist. It's not exactly that the rules are grey and more about the fact that literally anyone can activate the trap from almost everywhere on the map. 1) Its not even obvious in my opinion. Regardless of how obvious it is, what you did accounts as RDM - Killing on suspicion, as KOSing off traps is not valid.

The traps can be activated from quite a distance, so there is no 100% way to know who activated it, only in very rare occasions (for example, if a trap is activated in the Nether whilst there is only 2 people there).
