Due to the upcoming update, I recently got back into surf.
I noticed, that the performance on the current Server is to say it nicely quite bad.
Those performance issues (ping) make it impossible to play on the server at all.
I since asked some of the old players what has happened and if my information is correct,
the server was relocated from EU to NA.

I assume the plan is to also get the players from NA
but it makes it impossible for people from europe to play on the server.

Will the upcoming update solve this issue?
Will the server be relocated back to EU?
Will there be two servers? (one for NA one for EU)

I was really looking forward to the update, since I know how much effort went into it.
However if the ping issues wont be fixed, I don't think any of the people who love surf
and are living in the EU will be able to play and enjoy this new gamemode.

I have a lot of great memories on the server and I enjoy playing with the kids on it,
I really hope that with the new gamemode, those ping issues will be nothing but history.

I personally find this host change a matter of adaptation. As a matter of fact, it has affected my gameplay on prophunt instead of bhop or surf. There is a reason why communities like ksf have individual servers for each major region in the world.

So yes, the high ping does ruin the server for eu players and I don't see a valid point in it.

This is the problem with forcing an EU community onto an American host lol, there wasn’t thought about it for you guys and rather only to mitigate a temporary issue with the master server which I think is now fixed? I agree, after 4 years of 180-220 ping I can confirm that it is in fact difficult, but thankfully it is not impossible. You have to get used to the ping which takes time. The real issue that I had (which I'm not sure if it was fixed) was constantly getting stuck on ramps on +90% of maps.
Although I've never been really good at surf, the ping was never the reason why I wasn't doing great.
