Jusu used to hold a few records, Sam the Sausage is a good surfer who also holds records I believe, and I've met Americans on the server who are good at surfing, they both had the same ping as me Prince Nyx wrote:

I personally find this host change a matter of adaptation. As a matter of fact, it has affected my gameplay on prophunt instead of bhop or surf. Unless you have more than 200 ping and an internet connection not worth mentioning in 2023, i think us EU plebs will be just fine The problem is, that it isn't just a matter of getting adjusted to the new situation. It is legit not possible to surf some maps anymore. Yes you might be able to adjust to the high ping while surfing however, you won't be able to get adjusted to the increased delay when surfing through a teleport. Also due to the high ping it is now almost impossible to perform certain skips on maps, due to them requiering perfect precision. There is a reason why communities like ksf have individual servers for each major region in the world. So yes, the high ping does ruin the server for eu players and I don't see a valid point in it. Ok so why could the US players do everything just fine? Are EU players disabled? Name me a good surfer that plays on zarp and is from the states |

I agree, after 4 years of 180-220 ping I can confirm that it is in fact difficult, but thankfully it is not impossible. You have to get used to the ping which takes time. Although I've never been really good at surf, the ping was never the reason why I wasn't doing great. As I said, yes I agree that you can get used to it for the most parts. However my point still stands that you cannot do certain skips on higher tier maps like surf_tronic and with the new update there will be more such maps, where you are unable to perform skips that are needed for a clean run. I wouldn't have anything against it if most of the players were based in the US however most of the players are based in the EU. That's why I don't see the point in moving to the US in the first place. |

Well it was moved for the sake of having better and more reliable servers, this along with the fact that the EU base has left in recent years so it's a smart move to try and get players from the United States to join. As for SSRP elemental is a prime example of US players rejoining but the amount of players joining on a regular basis has been increasing.Prince Nyx wrote:

I agree with trying to complete the high tier maps clean while having high ping is impossible but all I have to say to that is that it's a Garrys Mod surf server, just chill out, if you want competitive surf just play CSGO |

I do enjoy playing harder maps and I also surf in css, but I have a lot of great memories on the Zarp Surf Server and I know how much thoughts and efforts went into the new gamemode by Knu aswell as me. Yes I know it is Gmod, but there are still a lot of players on Gmod who enjoy playing hard maps which was the original reason why the new gamemode was created in the first place. I don't think that it is bad wanting to get US players to join, but I think it shouldn't go at the cost of the people who waited for over 1 year to finally enjoy the new gamemode and get back into gmod surf. I really do understand your points and I appreciate them! But I am also quite sad that for all of those who've been waiting for this long are now unable to enjoy it. Maybe I am to emotionally attached, but I am really disappointed. |

I get what your saying and the CMs have debated this for months, at the end you are one of the few players from the EU that still play/came back. The potential that Zarp has to grow is if they can gain and maintain an American player base because the EUs player base has become so small (besides the admins who never play anyways) Prince Nyx wrote:
