In last weeks Community Team meeting outcome, we briefly mentioned that we were going to make a post on the forum to do with SSRP and its future. It's undeniable that the average player count is in decline and we are determined to make ZARP SSRP a popular Garry's Mod server again!

The Idea

We have noticed a significant number of suggestions from community members for a 'legacy' server, that would have specific items (mainly suits and special weapons) removed from the server. After some deliberation in the Community Team meeting, we are keen to explore this suggestion further due to its popularity, but we need your help!

The Proposal

We are proposing to have a ZARP "Classic" Server, which, would be very similar in concept to a legacy server. This server would have a list of blacklisted items that can be changed at any time (but still connected to the main database). Please note that we are yet to confirm most of the technical details as we are still very early in the planning phase.

What YOU Need To Do

We would like you to voice your opinion about the following things:

The server's name

The item(s) you would like to ban/blacklist from the server

EVILMELON ( i know it didnt work when you tried to add it back before BUT WE NEED IT BACK IT WAS THE BEST OG MAP)

What item(s) do you think should be banned/blacklisted from the server? (name as many as you like):

All weapons and suits added after gencorp so the only suit it the jug, keep all the printers, or add a new suit that is similar to the jug which is like the peak of the server and almost impossible to get.
Any other information:
Make it like vanilla with not too many op weapons or suits and make it so they are practically impossible to get.

I've got a few questions:

Would SSRP staff have their ranks on the ZARP Classic server? - I'd assume yes but still, want to make sure.

This server, like every other will have its host, where would this host be located (UK, US)?

Will the Administration (staffing: F1 system, RapSheets, etc) work the same way as on S1, 2 and 3?

Apart from the fact that this server is just like all the others but just without special weapons/suits, will this have something that S1, S2, and S3 haven't got?

I would like Townsend but I don't think people enjoyed that map so I'm not too bothered on the map.

What item(s) do you think should be banned/blacklisted from the server? (name as many as you like):

Golden Items
Booster packs giving cases
Mother suit
Mining
Alt accounts
Mostly everything that has been added within the past few years, when the Jugg was the primary suit and T-Guns were the primary special weapon as well as gluons but there was actually a reason to use a PSG or SVU that was actually fun

Any other information:
Happy to see this come into play, not sure if it's going to work but I hope you guys can pull it off, I will for sure return if this comes out but I'm curious, will everyone keep their inventory space they had?

this point is dependent on it being a reset server with an independent database but i'd imagine it will be

for the last one, I'd assume there'd be some new methods of keeping a constant (yet still difficult to obtain) flow of items coming into the economy to keep it healthy and reduce inflation (which currently plagues the 3 ssrp servers we have), as well as to bring the amount of items in the new server up to speed with the main ones relatively quickly - i don't really think anything should be fully unobtainable/limited to cases in the long term other than crack, cooler, ls sniper, and cs nades - they would still need to be introduced somehow in the short term

btw, do you guys plan on making this a reset server? because I feel like that'd really draw players back in, while still appealing to what was good about ssrp in the past - if you do, your best bet is disallowing use of more than 1 alt account at a time

1. The current roster of SSRP staff would not change; if you are currently staff on SSRP, you will be staff on ZARP Classic.

2. We haven't really confirmed this yet; we have talked about replacing both S2/3 but nothing is set in stone yet.

3. Yes, administration addons/tools will not be changed.

4. We're not sure. We are too early in the planning stage to give a sensible answer to this.

Not resetting any pre-existing server but having a clean slate for this new server in particular; it's been massively requested for so long now and this feel likes the perfect opportunity to just give a fresh experience to everyone requesting it - new beginnings as opposed to wiping what people have worked for.

We're disabling weapons that are not wanted, no one is exactly losing anything.

One alt only is a good idea and i'll be sure to raise this up next meeting.
