TOPIC: Either it's all allowed, or none of it is

There was a lot of complaints about the changes to the racism rule in terms of punishment. I agree with a harsher punishment for people being discriminatory to other groups of people as it can lead to bullying, harassment, and other issues. However, in terms of "discrimination", racism is just a drop of water in the ocean for what that is. If we're going to be this harsh for someone using a word like the n-word, where is the punishment for people using the word F*ggot, and other discriminate terminology on ZARP Servers? I was on S1 the other day and people were using the word constantly in OOC and even having it in their names, and it was only ever dealt with when someone complained about it but I know full well if someone said the n-word there would be a server full of staff waiting to pile on a punishment for that.

Just my thoughts, interested to see what some people think about this.

When talking about this rule, it has been brought up multiple times to the LT and the CM team that it should be an all or nothing. We try and treat every situation the same, but more concern is placed towards the n word due to the amount that people have been using it.

If what you're saying is true about the word f*ggot becoming the new n-word then it will be dealt with.

There is no room for discrimination on ZARP as stated in the rules. We're just getting through a transitional period of "what is okay" and " what is not okay" so it will take some time for everyone to be on the same page for these punishments and new rules.

All we can ask for is patience with our staff team, we're doing our best to make ZARP a better place and enjoyable for everyone.

Once things calm down and people aren't so forward with that word, punishments won't have to always be a 1 day ban. Staff will probably do a lot more warning. But since we're still in that transition phase of "what should i do" its just a ban for most people.

i think you should be more concerned about people who are using offensive language to bully and harrass people.

if its not targetted at anyone then there should be no need to censor peoples language.

Regardless of what you think of the word, it is not allowed within this community and that is final. I believe this should count for all offensive terms. "Retarded", "faggot" and similar terms should all be disallowed within the community. I find the fact that staff members consider certain words offensive and other, also offensive terms not to just be ridiculous.

Users should always be given a chance, though. I disagree with zero tolerance policies on practically everything - users should always get a chance to prove that they're not complete assholes. In my opinion a warning or two is more than enough before a ban should be placed.

I agree completely with this, and I think it needs to be made clear. People think racism is a lot worse than any other form of discrimination, but discrimination is discrimination, no matter what form. And certain types of discrimination should not be punished differently than others
