Give and explain 3 situations in which it would be appropriate to use the ban command:
First Situation
Someone has over four to five recent punishments and should be issued a ban, the duration of the ban the user will be receiving is dependent on the severity of the rules that have been broken, the base duration of a ban that is a result of five recent punishments is seven days. If the user has been recently banned along with the five recent punishments, the duration of the ban the user receives will be two weeks + the rule break they have just committed (the rule that the user has broken will decide how much time is added to the ban (E.X. Mass RDM will add a few days)).
Second Situation
Unspecified user is mass rule breaking, (mass spam of racism in both voice and text chat, mass RDM, etc) and after being jailed/warned/punished and requested to stop, they continue regardless of attempts made by staff to enforce the rules without issuing a ban, the duration of the user's ban is once again dependent on the rule breaks in question.
Last Situation
An order has been given from a member of the Lead Team to issue a ban upon a user for a specified reason and duration and so the ban is dealt out by myself accordingly.
Explain in detail the main functions of the F1 menu and how this can be used to help you deal with situations on the server:
The F1 Menu is a necessity when it comes to performing your duties as a staff member. It allows the staff member to gain access to an array of different options and tools at a staff member's disposal, when you enter the menu you will be brought to the report section in which you can view all handled and unhandled reports alike and in different orders (from oldest>newest, newest>oldest, etc). You will always begin in this report screen before you handle a user's report properly and effectively, by right clicking the report you wish to handle, you will be given some options;
By right clicking the report and then afterwards left clicking the option to handle the report, more options will appear when you once again right click on the user's report. After handling a user's report, the ability to teleport to the user and to teleport the user to the staff member handling appears. These are often used to teleport to the user immediately after handling the F1 and teleporting the user to the staff member if the user is stuck in the world or props.
Other options that appear after handling a player's report is the ability to unhandle the report if you do not wish to continue handling the report for any reason as well as the power to complete the report that is being currently handled once it is finished and no longer required to be held open. Before a report is handled a staff member may also close the report due to "spam" but the reason a staff member removes a report without finishing it can be for other viable reasons such as the report being false; an F1 can be removed even after being handled by unhandling the F1 and then marking it as spam.
On top of the Report Menu inside the F1 Menu, there will also be other tabs such as the tab to view all the active NLR of all players, if a player currently has NLR in a district at the time of viewing. This tab is simply used to check where players have NLR so you may also check on the player to indicate whether or not they are in violation of any rules pertaining to NLR. Another tab at available to a staff member is the 'Logging' tab, which allows the viewer to read the basic logs of the server, such logs include; time that the log was entered, Steam ID's of users involved in the log, the type of log that it is (killed, arrested, broke nlr, etc) and the usernames of the players (usernames recorded at the time of the log being entered).
The last tab available to an Administrator/Moderator of the server is the 'Warnings' tab. This tab allows the staff member to view any and all recent warnings made on that particular server you are viewing the tab within (before any restarts). The tab has plenty of information such as the Steam ID's of the user which was warned, the Steam ID of the staff member who punished the player and the reason for punishment. However this tab only displays punishments dealt by the /warn command.
Explain in detail how you would handle the following situation:
'You witness Player A being verbally abusive towards you through voice/chat whilst you are carrying out your administrative duties.'
My reaction will always be dependent on the context of the situation and I will manage the situation accordingly within the context of the situation as well. If a user that I had never encountered before had begun behaving this way towards myself, I will simply request 'Player A' to not treat others the same way they're treating myself and politely ask the user to stop if they are speaking and acting with malicious intent. If the user would continue to mic spam and disrespect myself, then I may have no other choice but to give them a first five-minute mute (after requesting multiple times that the user cease their verbal abuse) in whichever chat they are using (voice/text). If 'Player A' persists then I will again mute them, but for ten-minutes instead. If they persist still, they will be muted once again for ten-minutes. Once again, if they still yet continue to behave outside of the rules, they will receive a short ban that consists of one or two days, if their only punishments are mutes from staff members.
If 'Player A' has acquired punishments before the mutes I have given out to the user, then the ban may be more severe as their toxicity is widespread throughout the server. I may also decide to spectate the user to investigate whether or not they are behaving this way to others than just myself and then responding accordingly. The punishments 'Player A' receives or doesn't receive is once again dictated by the context of the situation (E.X. Is the user with malintent? Is the user consistently disrespecting others? Is the user using foul/discriminatory/hurtful language? What is the tone of this user (and why are they behaving in the manner that they currently are?)).
Explain in detail how you would handle the following situation:
'Player A makes an appeal on a ban that was placed on them permanently for prop spamming, putting great apology and detail into the appeal, admitting to what they did. Explain the process of how you would handle this appeal.'
I first must begin by stating that I am handling the appeal that the user has submitted for their ban; afterwards I may begin my general investigations regarding the situation that had happened and the current situation now, speaking to the user and the staff member who had banned the user. If I am unable to reach the user, then that is okay, however; if I am unable to reach the staff member, in accordance with the 'Appeal Policy & Handling Guide' I will give the staff member a 24 hour period to respond to my requests for communication before making my own decision on the appeal that has been submitted.
There are a few factors I must take into account when deciding the verdict I will place upon the user's submitted appeal, some of these factors include but are not limited to; how long ago did the ban take place? Are they a repeat offender? Have they put enough work into their appeal? What other reasons (if any) could they have been banned for and what was their attitude like after speaking to them?
Upon some investigation and making my decision, I would have to place my verdict and reply to their appeal formally. Here are some examples of appeals I have replied to with a verdict.
1. Dovah's Ban Appeal
2. Along's Ban Appeal
3.
Snow's Warn Appeal
Why I should be promoted (we recommend a minimum of around 150 words):
I should be promoted because I've always found staffing to be far more enjoyable than RPing on Garry's Mod. I've got around two years of time staffing and I've handled many reports, appeals and such on the forums with over four thousand F1's handled and finished as well. Nearly all of my hours on ZARP are as a staff member, I'm willing to learn and I can admit when I am wrong when it comes to handling situations in-game.
For a while now I've missed handling reports and fixing situations in-game, so here I am. Thank you for reading and/or considering my application, it means a lot as always! Also, please feel free to correct any mistakes you see within this application, feedback of any kind of highly appreciated! I have been given permission to apply for Administrator by Richard!
