Honestly, that's the issue. It wouldn't really change anything. See, I'd say there are two big things that are vital to the classic server, for the community to actually want it:
1) Exclusion of various "overpowered" items that ruin the immersion and fun for new players who just want to base, or old players who just want to recapture the classic feeling of basing. This includes, but is not limited to things like all power suits (cosmetic suits are fine), hand cannon, dynamite launcher, Dark Matter Gun, etc. Not 100% sure how people feel about Gluon.
Basically, everything that was in the rare case, blueprint case (no golden bps) and weapon case (milkor/m202/RPG/orb/etc are all manageable weapons in fights) is fine. It's what I'll call
manageable raiding equipment, things that are counterable without there being a need for suits, and things that can turn the tide within two seconds. (Dripping with pretention, me)
There are some people who feel explosive weapons need to be removed outright, but that's another conversation.
2) And this is what turned everyone off when it wasn't something the CM team were willing to implement.
A new database.
One of the biggest problems in our community is the disparity between the old/veteran players who have shit tonnes of items and cash, and the new players who have... Well, nothing. They start out with 100k. You can do a bit with 100k, that's fine. But it also only gives you so many chances to get printing, planting or anything to earn cash - the majority of those things can be interrupted and ruined by older players, some of whom don't do it to get the money but simply to troll/bully new players.
I'm not saying that a new database doesn't mean that people will be better, or that everything will be fixed. It won't. It just levels the playing field, gives everyone a chance to start again, work their way up. That's part of the appeal of ZARP. The journey. The quest to be more or less a kingpin and stand at the top. Competing for supremacy, and a blank slate offers everyone that chance to stand at the top. Old and new.
People have said others might complain about losing everything (there's still the current server), and the lead team might not like the idea of implementing a classic server when they just wanna keep making new updates and improving upon things - but the option of a blank slate is so appealing to a lot of people.
So, to answer your query, even though it wasn't directed at me - it wouldn't be different. It's one of the two vital things that they've missed out, and it's not something people want to compromise on.
