Introduction
How to successfully handle difficult situations regarding other staff This is a thread I am making because I have seen - and previously experienced - difficult situations in-game on the SSRP servers which may be difficult to handle when a higher-up is not available. First of all, I think it's important to note that you should always attempt to contact a lead team member if a serious situation occurs. Whether that'd be through TeamSpeak, Discord, Steam or on the forums. However, if there are no lead team members available - even after doing all these things - this will be a guide on how to properly handle any situations regarding staff and abuse.
Handling Abuse
What're the most appropriate actions in these situations? (Mostly applicable to minor situations.) First of all, to clarify, you should not conclude with your own verdicts in any situations that are in any way related to a staff member abusing, that is the job of the lead team and regardless of the circumstances no moderator or administrator should handle an abuse case with their own final verdict. If a staff member has made non-perpetuating a mistake, you should confront them to make sure they won't make the same mistake in the future. After that, you should reach out to a lead team member and inform them about the incident(s) that have occurred. Make sure to inform them about the seriousness of the incident (whether it's small or of higher importance), and provide valid evidence/proof. TL:DR: Do not conclude the situations yourself; do not punish the individual yourself. Settle the situation and inform a lead team member so it can be brought up. Make sure to provide proof.
Major incidents
Read this to understand how you would go about handling more serious cases of staff abuse. If a very serious situation occurs, make sure to collect as much evidence as possible. Serious situations include mass rulebreaking, abuse of power (to a large extent), and similar situations. On the occasion that you find a staff member doing any of these things, or encounter situations you believe to be of the same degree, do as following:
If the staff member is disobedient, by any means try to prevent rulebreaks from happening, but do not use any powers that are off-limits, but all things that are within reason and common sense in these situations are allowed. You should try to get as much proof as possible of the situations and inform a lead team member with as much detail as possible on exactly what happened, and how the proof fits into the story. Please stress that the situation is serious and of high priority. The lead team will then determine an outcome on the situation. TL:DR: Make sure to get as much proof as possible. You may break up the situation immediately, but I have to stress that it should only be if it is clear that the situation is and would be considered abuse of any form. We will determine this with the evidence you provide us, so get as much as you can. Try your best to settle the situation, and keep a close eye on the staff member afterwards. Prevent further rule breaks, use powers within reason and do not use any off-limit powers. Provide proof.
In all situations, you need to be certain a rule break has been committed. If you are unsure, look up the rules and see if you can find any rules they may be in violation of.
This guide is made by Rick Johnson to ensure staff members do the right thing when encountering these situations. This thread is subject to being edited and updated at any time. Read this thread to get a better understanding of the appropriate powers to use.
