TOPIC: Job Votes (The Good) - Continued

Last post was locked for some reason;

I left it up for general discussion as to whether jobs such as Police and S.W.A.T need to be voted in.
I'm not sure what having the vote achieves or deters, so my suggestions is basically to remove the vote.
Give me your opinions and sides of the argument.

The basic reason I think it isn't necessary is because there is almost always a staff member on the server, this means minges trying to get the job is not and issue as they are instantly dealt with thereby surely nullifying the need for a vote.

Just because there is almost always a staff member online, doesn't fortify the fact that having a vote in place can stop rule-breakers from getting the job. Just because a staff can deal with the rulebreak after it happens, doesn't mean we shouldn't try to prevent it as well.

I understand where you are coming from, however it's still an issue when you are not a minge and simply want to play one of the vote jobs (especially considering S.W.A.T is a vip job so it's very unlikely they would break the rules).

Even in last nights case there were loads of RDAer's and trollers but the vote did not stop them from getting the job as they just voted each other in. Cheers for discussing with me.

The votes are there for a reason and they should stay as far as I'm concerned. The reason they're there is to stop people from getting the job if people think that they don't deserve it or if they're known to cause issues. Whilst it may not stop all of them it certainly stops a few and that's a good thing.

As for the argument of VIPs not breaking rules I disagree, a lot of the people that we hand out warnings and punishments to are VIPs on the server. Someone having money to buy VIP doesn't instantly transform them into a saint that doesn't do bad.

In short I really see no need to remove the vote, it has a purpose and removing it would just cause more trouble albeit a small amount.

Yeah I see where you're coming from, what about the issue relating to people simply not getting the job because people don't vote for them though? Not a big one I know but that's the base of this thread.

Of course VIP doesn't make them a saint but it shows their commitment to the server therefore they would surely be more hesitant if they were going to break the rules.

Personally I'll stand by there not needing to be a vote for S.W.A.T but will withdraw from the Police not needing one.
