SSRP Suggestion Stricter Punishments 9 years 1 month ago #357136

Server Name: SSRP 1 & 2

Suggestion Title: Stricter Punishments

How would it benefit the server: Less rulebreaks

Potential Issues/Exploits: Confusing with a change

Additional notes: People break nlr, they know it's not allowed but still do it. It breaks the game in certain scenarios for example during a raid you'd lose it because someone were to eager to keep their printers which is fine and understandable in some aspects but considering you accepted the rules when you join you should accept them and if you cannot follow them you don't have a reason to play.

Suggestion is made because i know way to many people who got bored of Zarp eventually due to it's rulebreakers. Yes it's casual with rulebreakers but playerbase is fading because during nighttime everyone will break rules. It's super simple to make ALT's and keep track of. People that does get caught will not be for long after he's gotten a warning. Well damn a warning, i bet he really listened after saying "I promise it won't happen again". the day after he breaks NLR again and another admin will be there and give him a warning aswell.

This keeps going on and on for ages and people are sick of volunteering because you don't really volunteer after the ammount of F1's you have to do day after day. Now days you can't even ban someone for being an asshole and immature ignorant. No you have to mute him and spectate him and wait for him to build that Nazi tower that is so predictable that you literally just waste your time and it's no longer volunteer work. No it's a chore that will look the same over and over again. You're not allowed to rp as an admin, you put endless ammount of time into giving players warnings they don't care about as they don't apply for admin either.

Basically the new terms for staff members would be to check the F6 menu of the player and let's say he's been getting 3 warns for NLR the past week he would then get a longer ban for doing so. Let's say 2 week for breaking NLR a fourth time. Just make sure not to give permabans because some people don't feel confident enough to make unban appeals and will take away players that might end up being lojal after all.

tldr; read topic

I see servers jailing people when they break rules.

This is more punishable and meaningful than a warn in my opinion and i would like them to add it!

I really don't see the need for stricter punishments, we've had this system for so long and it's worked, what we need is for the rules to be enforce much better.

How does it work to warn people when they just keep breaking rules?

Look at night time when there are no admins on, everyone breaks nlr, rdm and shit goes down. People are aware of the system so they know they will only get a warning for breaking nlr.

To be honest i think we shouldn't give harsher punishments because our job is to help playes and tell them what they did wrong not to warn them like straight away for NLR when they probably didn't know what it meant. But it would kinda get rid of more rulebreaks.

This is a :neutralsp: from me

This doesn't go to new players. This goes to people who break NLR even though they are aware of it. Like This guy.

I mean if they break a rule that deserves a warn instead just jail.

We don't need harsher or stricter punishments, people sometimes seem to forget that people can be treated on a case by case basis. If it's blatantly obvious that someone is trying to cause issues regardless of knowing the rules they can be banned if the admin feels it fit. This doesn't change the fact that the admin should make sure the person is given a chance to improve at first though. We need to be fair to everyone.

I have been playing on a server recently (wont say name because I''ll probs get banned for advertisement LOL)and they jail people for a long ass amount of time instead of warning them and it's much more effective and if people leave and join back it just resets the timer

Harsher punishments will bring no good whatsoever.

If you were to harshly punish a new player, he would end up leaving the server as no one would want to be jailed for 5 minutes for such a simple mistake they've made when they could've just been told not to do it again and simply read the rules.

If you were to harshly punish a troll who clearly came on the server to troll no good will come either, if you honestly expect the troll to behave then you are mistaken, he will only keep on trolling and try to loophole more and more, unless you try to reason with him, I've personally reasoned with many people who came on the server to troll, some ended up leaving, others actually stayed and became a part of this community for a good while.

If you were to harshly punish a community member who has been around for a while you will only cause them to resent you more and more, causing this hate mob mentality towards staff members to spark more and more, I've been a user and I've been a staff member, and I know what users say about staff members, and none of it is good.

If you actually expect that harsher punishments will stop rule breakers, you are very wrong, if you try to reason with the rulebreakers however, some good might come of it, but nothing bad will.

TL;DR: Try reasoning with rule breakers instead, in the end it's a game, stop taking this too seriously to the point where its like a government job.
