TOPIC: Harsher punishments

Harsher punishments 9 years 1 month ago #356697

Server Name: SSRP 1, 2 and 3

Suggestion Title: Harsher punishments

How would it benefit the server: most likely gonna decrease the number of rulebreakers

Potential Issues/Exploits: admins favoring friends or being worse against people they dislike (wich is already a problem)

Additional notes: instead of 3 warnings before a kick make it 2, and then 3 warnings a 1-hour ban and THEN the 4th warning a ban for half a day

give the admins permission to hit the ban hammer harder and faster, some time ago it was made so that you are not really allowed to give a harsh punishment anymore, and ever since the number of rulebreakers kept increasing, a lot of people have also been complaining about this, i think it's time to increase the weight of the ban hammer, the way it is now rulebreakers just get let off too easy.

if people wonder why i am making this suggestion while i don't play SSRP, it's because i tried playing it again some time ago and i got rdmed 10x, random arrested 4x and just disrespected 24/7 basically, the number of rulebreakers is too high, and this was only in 1 hour

if a person who plays the piano is called a pianist why isn't a racer called a racist?

Weeaboos, Otakus and Anime are the side effects of nuclear radiaton

Our goal is to enforce the rules and help players, not to punish harshly where it's unecessary. At the end of the day if someone's goal is to break rules this won't make a majority difference.

if that what you think i think you are wrong, basically that is giving them more time to break rules, at the moment a moderator warns a person for rdm for example, 5 minutes later he rdm's someone again and he will get another warning after he got told not to rdm and got rdm explain to him, meaning he does not intent to change and most likely will continue to rulebreak, at that point i think a ban is in order instead of another warning, that other warning will give him more time to ruin the fun for other people

also, am i saying they need to be banned instantly? no.
am i saying that the punishment will be harsh on his first ban? no.
all im saying is give the rulebreakers who break them constantly a harsh punishment, if they break rules but not as ofter, say 2 hour intervals or so give them another warning, but if they keep breaking them right after they received a warning you can tell they dont give a crap, and THAT is when a harsh punishment is in order

Honestly. The 3rd warning a kick. No one really cares. The 4th ban for 1 hour. I think they couldn't care less. So please give a little harsher punishments

exactly what im thinking, the punishment is soo light at the moment the couldnt care less about getting banned cuz they will most likely be banned for 2 days and after that they will just start all over again

i totally agree. today i had 3 guys mass rdming in spawn. i warned and kicked them but they rejoined and did the same thing until one of them got the 4th warning and got banned so the other guys just left. but they had already ruined things for other players

I think the only thing that should be done is making the 3rd and 4th warnings a little harsher.

yeah if a player is dedicated or new but want to get in to the game mode then il be more then happy to help an not just straight of punishing a player. but then there is some who straight up minge not giving af about getting in trouble who just go and mass rdm for fun, then they need to be punished in that case

I somewhat agree with this but in the end the rule breakers will be sorted out and taken care of.
I do believe perm bans should be given to extreme rule breakers more often and then tell them to appeal on forums. That way if they actually do enjoy the server they would make the appeal and the staff can come to a conclusion. As many people lose important items due to rda/rdm and feel the want to not play anymore because of that.
Possibly enforcing the rules even more by making it pop up on the screen every time you join or a 15-30 min automated msg saying how to read the rules because a lot of people dont realize the rules NPCs at spawn or even know how to read the rules.

Maybe 3rd warning 30 min ban then 4th warning 2 hour ban or something because its hard being the only mod on the server dealing with mass rulebreakers (which is the case sometimes and ive been there)

Overall though the system in place now is still very solid

Staff need to get better at spotting the trolls and distinguishing them from the new players.

Trolls who just want to mass RDM and joke about everything are the issue here. Not new players who don't know every nook and cranny of the rules and are generally highly prone to breaking them. You can say "just read the rules" all you want but there's a lot to remember and that's not taking into account the "hidden" rules that may be common sense to staff but not for a player.
