Huge game changing suggestion 8 years 10 months ago #248918

Please note that I have not used the template as I feel it limits the things you write, and I want this suggestion to be different as it is such a game changer.

Hello, most, if not all of you reading this won't know me, but in game I'm known as Smurf. When I first joined this server, I felt like I could get away with anything, which wasn't apparent after a while of playing. Although when I did break a rule, I would get a warn... And breaking three within a short amount of time would kick me, then eventually a ban would be issued after around 4/5 warns In a short period of time.
I come from more serious RP communities, with the sorts of ARMA Roleplay and white listed servers. My suggestion is that anyone caught breaking a rule would receive warning points which are permanent. These warning points would also carry a 1-7 day ban spending on the severity of the rule break. When a user reached 30WP they would receive a permanent ban from the community.
I propose we bring this into ZARP RP, where say RDM would be equivalent to 5WP and a 24 hour ban, and 20WP and a 7 day ban for Mass RDM etc, etc... Another alternative would be to use the same system as above yet remove the warning points after 30 days of them being issued, meaning players who are at 10WP will have to attain 30 in a short amount of time to be permanently banned. I add that the 30 day removal is used in most communities with serious RP.

If you could share your opinion on this I would be really greatfull as it could change the server for the better. Also, a nite to staff, there are many forums out there that accommodate the WP system, such as MyBB and others.

Little side note, you either have casual or serious RP. There is no Semi Serious..

First of all, you definetly need to use the template or this suggestion will not get accepted.

Second, the system is fine as it is right now and doesnt need any change

The thing is, you said it yourself, those communities are Serious-RP or VS-RP, our DarkRP is Semi-Serious, a one of a kind, we use the same warning system that are used in all of our servers, which is fair and just, the system that you are suggesting is a bit too, let's say harsh for our kind of roleplay.

I don't see any needs really in adding this system.

In my opinion it is a terrible system... A user gets warned, he breaks another rule affecting other users RP. He can break up to THREE major rules before being kicked, and this solves nothing. The only way to weed out the rule breakers is to use bans as they carry a geavier weight.

The system we currently have solves nothing in my eyes, with an abundance of F1 calls, a lot of the time about the same people, with no bans ever being issued, the same players will come back again and again with no consequence. To add to that, there is no such thing as semi serious. Even casual RP servers jail players for rule breaks. This so called semi serious RP is beyond casual.

If someone is mass rule breaking we don't just give them 3 warns and get them kicked so they can join back we issue them a short ban like 1-3 days so that they can't affect people's RP but as hitman Jerry said we are a Semi Serious RP server and these rules would not fit our server and I feel like our system is fine and once the player has been warned for one rule break I feel every admin should spectate that player for about 5+ mins to see what they do after their warn was issued but overall we don't need this system in our server

So you are basically saying that after five minutes, they will it break another rule? This is absurd to think so. Semi serious is not a thing and this server is borderline casual, if not beyond casual RP. Three days for mass RDM is stupid. They will come back in three days. Do you really think that three days of their life will change their attitude? No, it never does. After a warn is issued a player will be on their best behaviour. This is the mentality of nearly ALL players I have come across in my time as staff on these Serious RP servers. After a while, they will go back to breaking rules. It does not take a short time to change anything.

The system needs to change sure but yours is way to serious.

Leta get real, everyone breaks rules sometimes wheter it be accidentaly or purpesly.
Do you really agree that a accidental rulebreak should stay forever?

If a player keeps on breaking rules, an admin will issue a ban and set the time to whatever he feels is necessary, if an admin does not do that himself you can ask one/make a ban request providing proof or asking the admin to talk to him if he's still online, if he keeps on ruining other players roleplay the ban will be longer and longer.

Our type of roleplay is neither casual nor serious, it's a type of role-play of its own, we have different punishments for different rulebreaks.

I'm not saying that after 5mins they will brake another rule but you'll surprised how many people join a server just to get kicked/banned so it's best to keep a close eye on them I also did not say 3 days for mass rdm I said for mass rule break meaning they break multiple rules in a certain amount of time for example they rdm someone run back break NLR they then proceed to disrespect that player in OOC chat and most people don't change after long bans they just go on other servers and do the same thing until they can rejoin them again and again all I will say their is nothing wrong with our system

And they will learn after that. A more serious punishment leads to a more respective and trustworthy player in the end of it. This system never fails, and if someone gets WP or gets perm'd they can submit a ban appeal.

This is the thing I hate with the system. Staff members will have 'a talk' with players. Most players switch off when this happens. Warnings do nothing as the just disappear after a while, allowing a player to break more and more rules. I see too much rule breaks and it makes the server aids. If you could explain this whole semi serious to me either in TS or in a PM, that would be great. It confuses the hell out of me...

Yeah I may have over exaggerated that and I'm well aware of the fact that people just come on to break rules. People who break rules ruin Roleplay for others. If someone breaks a rule, players instantly go OOC while IC. It's really bad for someone wanting a good RP experience on a well known server, which is what people come here for, and sadly, hardly ever get.

To add to all this, the system needs to change. Maybe not as harsh as what I proposed, but stricter staff members and longer more severe punishments are the way to go if you want to have a good, non aids RP server, which I hope is what you aim to accomplish.
