There's not a whole lot more that can be done with the job. I believe there were plenty of votes in the past to have it removed, yet it never happened. The job wages war against hobo's and many use it to kill the AFK dumpster divers which by itself is a purpose?.. I guess...
To us the Mutant has plenty of different things it could've done, one such thing we wanted to suggest during Halloween but since it would have a very low chance of happening I doubt anyone would ever seriously consider it.
As it stands someone here is right, when there were maps with more extensive underground systems it was a lot more fun to play mutant, as you had places to roam and players to kill for "trespassing" on your grounds, but sadly in the maps used on ZARP there is no sign of any underground system, and I'm afraid that as it stands one will probably never be added.
PatrickTM plz.
The only thing we could think of is if there are enough players present on the server, and enough mutants there could be a special event that we decided to call
Mutant Madness or just simply
Pillage.
- Mutants gain the ability to activate an event in one of the districts, this event will have a cooldown of about 30 minutes to an hour each time.
- When triggered this event gives a notification to the server saying that the mutants are pillaging a specific district and that they must be stopped for a reward.
- The mutants have a specific number of lives, we're talking tens of lives because of their initial disadvantages. Each time a mutant kills a player all mutants gain a boost of some kind whether that be extra health, armour, speed, or more spawns.
- When the mutants run out of lives they are considered defeated after which the defending players are allowed to loot the hoard of plundered items. The number of items on which will be based on the number of mutants and how long the event lasted.
- When the mutants run out the clock they are considered victorious and will be able to ripe the benefits of their pillaging themselves. Which can yield interesting rewards, perhaps even unique more "scrappy" weapons.
- Those who feel bold can attempt to raid the pile before the event is over, perhaps with a chance of a better drop but, with the risk of being unable to move without interrupting the pillaging for a few seconds (like mining, and dumpster diving), allowing an easy shank.
- The hoard can contain a lot of different items, from carrots to uranium, to steel all the way up to some of the more common special weapons. Maybe even a super rare drop. There'd need to be a drop table made for the pile.
- Naturally the longer the pillage lasts and the more mutants there are the larger the pile will become, and once the mutants are able to run out the clock without losing all of their lives, they are victorious and they gain the loot for themselves much like a PD raid. Though with higher quality items.
- Mutants whilst in the event do not have NLR (in the pillage district), however, players do. This way players cannot just keep coming back much like the bank raid and the police.
The only thing about that which may be tricky to manage would be that only specific people can pick up the loot, after all, we don't want the mutants to win only to instantly be killed and their pillage loot be taken, we'd be better off to either directly give loot based on the table to the defending players (perhaps based on the amount of player kills they have)
That was our idea for a new event for mutants, its nothing too major but it would pose a fun nice little event that could occur every now and then much like a nuke and an airdrop would. Something that would give a bit of flair to the game besides the normal events that pop up every hour or so.
