TOPIC: Event Teaming

Make teaming in events against the rules
How would it benefit the server:
Would make it actually fair for all people in the event

I really hope I speak for a majority of us when I say getting 3 of your friends on and farming events all day by teaming, and not letting anyone else have a drop of fun is a pretty shitty thing to do, I really hope we can ban it.

It's a hard judgement to make. If a staff member gets it wrong they will land in big trouble.

This has been suggested maybe twice in the past before...

It would most likely cause more problems than good as people could be punished for teaming when they aren't actually meaning to team.

• Multiple players denying access to the point on KOTH but also occasionally killing each other to not make it obvious

Even though I know how you feel, and I agree that it's quite annoying, I must side with .uzi and Clarky since I highly agree that it would cause more issues than good.

I think, while it's not the nicest thing in skill-based events or even in Falling Tiles when one person jumps on the head of a "teammate" to get ahead, it's not exactly a cardinal sin. Richard, Chute and the CM team host some pretty fun events that have much bigger rewards and those ones are easier to spot cheaters/teamers (though I'm sure there have probably been times where they've been quite accepting of teaming up and the like).

The fact of the matter is, we can't exactly police every single event. Even if they made a staff position specifically for policing events, it probably wouldn't go very well. How do you know who's teaming and who isn't? How do you know who's deliberately running into their friend's bullets on Gun Game, or someone who's deliberately pushing everyone off except their friends in the whole quad falling tiles thing to give them the win? It's not black and white, and we have some really clever people who would likely come up with a loophole or a way to deceive the staff - some who do it out of protest for the rule, and some who do it genuinely to get ahead.

ZARP is a unique blend of community and trying to get to the top of the mountain. If people are at least helping each other get to the top rather than constant backstabbing and assholery, I'd say that's a good thing. It's not so easy to accept, and it'd probably annoy me too, but I'm sure if given the opportunity, you might at the very least consider it.
