you know you can close the coinflip window and let it do it in the background, then find out if you won or not.

Exactly so if someone alive does happen to be involved in a CF, they can simply close it and continue with their game as usual. Something nice to add on to this is maybe a notification somewhere either in the chat box or on the top-right (pointshop-style) that indicates you won/lost the CF along with the amount gained or lost.
