Explain "Random Deathmatch" and give an example scenario:
Random Deathmatch , to which players often refer to as “RDM”, is strictly forbidden to happen for it means a Player has killed one or more Players without a roleplay reason to do so.
For example, this situation would be RDM:
“Ascenda kills another player for not accepting his 150m offer for a Nano Suit.”
You’re only allowed to kill someone if it’s a core part of your job (i.e. Hitman and the Players have a hit on them), during a raid (i.e. Jabbe is lauching a Nuke and is killed by another player who intends to de-activate the nuke) or if you’re shot first (i.e. Player A shoots Player B without reason, so Player B has the right to shoot back in order to defend himself. If Player B is killed, he has no right to a Revenge Kill).
Explain "New Life Rule" and give an example scenario:
The New Life Rule, often abbreviated by most players to “NLR”, states that once a Player has been killed, he can not go back to this district until 3 minutes have passed. This happens because the Player has been given a new life, therefor there’s no relation to the previous aspects of his former life, including his base or anything left back on that specific district for the next 180 seconds.
It’s also worth mentioning that if a Defibrillator or a Tactial Insertion Point are used, the NLR does not apply. Neither it does apply to Police Officers during Nuclear Launch or Bank raids.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player X accuses Player Y of RDMing them, the console log shows that Player Y killed Player X.
If a F1 is made and I was the one to handle it, I would first make sure both Players were avaible and in-game for a sit, in a non-RP location, like an inaccessible roof . Then I would take both sides of the story, regardless of what the logs show. I’d want to see if either of the Players were intentionally trying to deceive me or were trying to hide their rulebreaking, while requiring proof if there’s any to be presented to me.
If this was still a “he said, she said” situation, I would proceed to confront both Players with what was on the logs.
The result of the sit would have to be a sum of taking in consideration all that happened up to that point, before and during the sit, while checking if the Player had any sort of recent punishments.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player X accuses Player Y of breaking NLR, the kills are pretty close together in console (a few lines apart) at a peak time.
The NLR is a rule that’s not in all servers, so I would first of all try to understand if the Player has been on the server long enough to understand that specific rule or if he was told by others what NLR was but ignored it.
Then I’d proceed in a way similar to the previous approach, asking both Players if there was any sort of proof that NLR had been broken without a valid reason and hear their stories. Then the logs would’ve to weigh-in on my conclusions to this matter. If I found that Player Y had in fact broken NLR and is a player that has been warned before or does in fact know he broke the rule but shows no remorse, I would then give him a warning for breaking the New Life Rule.
Why I should be chosen (we recommend around 150 words):
I believe I should be accepted as a moderator because I’m a very active player and due to the fact that I’m currently taking my Masters Degree I’m also very available during the entire day when most Moderators are not, because of school and other restrains I’m not bound by at the moment. You will likely not find me roleplaying if there are F1’s to be handled, I believe that by taking this step towards being a Moderator, I’m also taking on the responsibility to place the Community needs above mine.
I never expected to take this step towards being a Moderator when I started, but I click my F1 button a lot lately and after a sit Tilin suggested since I’m always there, I might as well apply to this position and be dealing with the situations myself, helping out other players. So for the past week I placed real thought into this and adding to the fact that I feel that Server 1 has been experiencing too much rule-breaking, similar to Server 3 and there’s constant demand for someone to handle F1’s, I decided to apply.
I don’t have any punishments, I received one in my first week playing Zarp I believe and since that I have never gotten any warning, verbal or ban. To be honest, I’ve never even been on a sit where I was not the player who made the F1 in the first place.
I’m a big fan of the core aspects of society, I believe that the rules are in place to be respected and should not broken for self-enjoyment, let alone continuously in small timeframes. I will not give a warning for the first time a player breaks NLR, but I will also not just give a “verbal/talking to” when a player massacres the entire server despite being told innumerous times that he was not complying with the rules.
I don’t break rules, so I expect others to act the same way. That being said, I will always listen to every word, of every story, of every side of the equation and never give out a punishment without fair reason or in any abusing way.
I’m aware this part went a bit over 150 words, by a lot, but I feel like all I wrote was essential to what the point I am trying to make.
Thank you for your time, I appreciate any feedback given by the Players or the Staff members, as long as it it’s given in a respectful manner, regardless of it’s in favor or against.
