Yo, folks. I decided I may as well make one of these even though I've only come back recently. I'll explain why in the app:

I have played there, but it doesn't seem to have recorded my playtime. I'd estimate 5 hours.

Estimated Server Time: About 97 hours recently, with an additional 18 hours beforehand. I have played for longer in the past, but it seems to no longer have been recorded.

DarkRP Specific


Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario.

Random deathmatch is, in its simplest form, murdering someone for no reason. I'll provide 3 situations, and say whether that would be RDM or not.

Situation 1: A cop is walking down the street. A gangster runs past him, and is wanted. The cop pulls out their taser, and attempts to arrest the gangster, and in return they shoot and kill the cop.

Not RDM

Situation 2: After the cop is killed, a SWAT member is nearby and sees the gangster with the weapon. After seeing the gangster kill the cop after he tried to arrest him, the SWAT member shoots and kills the gangster.

Not RDM

Situation 3: After the gangster is killed, a hobo with a PSG runs up and kills the SWAT member.

RDM


Explain "New Life Rule" and give an example scenario.

New life rule is that once you die, you forget your details about your previous life. In effect, this means you cannot return to the location of your death within 3 minutes. This does, however, have its exemptions. Similar to RDM, I'll give 3 situations.

Situation 1: A cop raids a gangsters base, kills all but 1 gangsters, but the last one kills the cop. The gangsters wait out their 3 minute timer, but the cop returns to the base to kill the final gangster.

Breaking NLR

Situation 2: A nuke is going off. The cops and hobos team up, and attack the base where the nuke is located. All cops and hobos are murdered, but the cops and hobo return to the base. Whilst heading there, one of them is shot and killed by a gun dealer.

RDM

Not breaking NLR

Situation 3: The bank is being raided. A cop and a gangster kill each other, and both return to the bank whilst the raid is active.

Breaking NLR- The gangster is breaking NLR. The cop is not.

Explain "Metagaming" and give an example scenario.

Metagaming is using information gained outside the game to your advantage. For example, a drug dealer asks in OOC how to buy printers, and says where they are based. If they are immediately raided, it's a good indicator that the raiders were using OOC information IC.

Situations


Explain how you would handle the following situation:

Player x accuses player y for RDMing him, the console log shows that player y killed player x.

Firstly, I'd go to them and ask them what happened. I'd wait for them to explain their sides, and if they wont stop talking over each other, I'll ask them to take turns. If they attempt to run away, then I'll freeze and bring the one who is running. After they've said their piece, I'd ask why player y killed player x. If it fits with the story they've told, then I'll likely accept it. If they can't explain it, or change what they said, then I'll give them a verbal warning. If they don't take it seriously at all, and just try to be an idiot, then they will get a proper warning.


Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for breaking NLR, the kills are pretty close together in console (a few lines apart) at a peak time.

First things first, I'd copy the two kills over to a text editor, in case there was a lot of console spam immediately after. Then I would tp to the one who made the F1, bring the other player, and ask for what happened. If they admit to wrongdoing, and the other player was happy to drop it, then I'd let them go with a verbal warning. If they start arguing, I might have to mute them temporarily. Once they've said their piece, I would paste the line of the first kill, and ask why they killed the other player. If the nuke is active, or they're a cop then I would explain those exceptions. If not, then I would warn the player for breaking NLR.

Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x calls for help in the OOC chat because his bank is being raided

I would say in OOC that they should keep IC information out of OOC, and suggest they make an advert instead. If they continue to do it, I would go to them, and tell them in person. If they still continue, I'd either warn or mute them, depending what seems better at the time.



In closing:
As there isn't a section to post relevant experience, I feel I should add that I have been staff previously on this server - Ages back. I'm pretty well versed in DarkRP servers having played over 1000 hours of them now, and I'm at the point where I'm more interested in things running smoothly than getting ahead in things.
