Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario.
Random Death Match, or RDM for short, is the term used to describe a situation in which a player kills another player without just cause. This can be due to one player feeling vindictive after another player kills them fairly, or it could be a simple matter of one player feeling particularly "lively" and thinking they can get away with killing players.
Example One: Joe is talking to Abe. In the middle of the perfectly friendly conversation, Abe pulls out a shotgun and shoots Joe repeatedly, killing him. Abe has committed RDM.
Example Two: Ivan is being mugged by Arnold. Ivan refuses to give Arnold the money, and instead kills him with an AK-47. Ivan has committed RDM, and also broken FearRP. This is a fine example of a situation where two rules overlap and are broken simultaneously.
Explain "New Life Rule" and give an example scenario.
New Life Rule, or NLR for short, is the term used to describe a situation in which a player refuses to follow the rules of roleplay, and attempts to return to the life they once had after being killed. While there is nothing wrong with rebuilding after an amount of time has passed (within the confines of the NLR), this is a matter more where Player A might raid, kill Player B, and Player B returns immediately to kill Player A, or make the attempt.
Example One: Oscar and his gang are raiding a base run by a drug dealer known as Thomas. Thomas is killed during the raid, but immediately returns to the fold and uses an orbital strike to attempt to defeat the raiders. Thomas is breaking NLR, and by killing these other players - if he does - is also committing RDM.
Example Two: Charlie has successfully entered a base during a raid, only to be killed upon being noticed by a gang member in the base. Charlie returns to the base immediately after dying to attempt to raid once again. Charlie has not only broken NLR, he has also failed to observe the raid cooldown timer.
Explain "Metagaming" and give an example scenario.
Metagaming is the term used to describe a situation where a player has given away valid information in the RP itself through non-RP means. To elaborate, this refers to a scenario in which a player may have given away the coordinates of their current location to the server through the OOC chat in hopes of getting help IC. It can also refer to other situations of a similar nature.
Example One: Billy announces to the server through OOC chat: "help us raid this base its by the bank". Billy is attempting to encourage other players to participate in a typical raid. However, because he has done so through the server-wide chat function targeted specifically for talking Out Of Character, this is committing metagaming.
Example Two: Henry is close to dying during a raid. In a moment of desperation, he calls for help: "My base is being raided, it's next to the gas station! Help me, please!" While it would be perfectly acceptable to ask a friend of his for help through a PM, Henry has elected to alert the entire server to the situation through OOC chat. This is metagaming.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for RDMing him, the console log shows that player y killed player x.
I'd have to listen to both ends of the story, and find out if the players have evidence to back up their claims. Based upon how the story is told, I'd be most likely to deliver a verbal or actual warning to Player Y for his actions. However, if the story is not clear, and the players cannot provide appropriate evidence, I might simply be more inclined to let both of them go and keep an eye on whether Player Y gets into trouble again for something similar. It could simply be an honest mistake - though that rarely seems the case.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for breaking NLR, the kills are pretty close together in console (a few lines apart) at a peak time.
Once again, the players could supply two sides to their story, and depending upon how the story is told, I'd be inclined to give a verbal warning or actual warning dependent upon the severity of the NLR. I would look at the timing and ask for screenshots, recordings, or any kind of evidence, as this may be vital to the case.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x calls for help in the OOC chat because his bank is being raided
This is simple enough, as long as the player does not consistently break the rule after being warned once that the action of calling for help in OOC is not allowed, I would see no reason to give them a proper warning. However, I would let them know that the better way to ask for help is through the appropriate IC channels.
Why I should be chosen (we recommend around 150 words).
Thought it might be cool to apply and see what happens. I've enjoyed playing on the server for a couple years now. Been on and off, but recently, I've been playing every day. So, I thought I'd give it a shot.
I like trying to uphold the rules as best I can. I haven't always been the best at it, but hey. I've tried. I like this server, and I like helping people. If I can do both, then I'm one happy camper.
Thanks for your time.
