An example of metagaming is finding drugs in a property which belongs to a player you have never encountered personally and reading the name on the door to find out who the property belongs to. In real life names do not hover above peoples heads and to avoid metagaming you have to act as if you don't know.

Not exactly, metagaming is using/transferring information from IC to OOC.
For example :
Player 1 : "Hey player 2 I'm at the bank can you pick me up and lets raid player 3? he's at the subs."
