The first thing I would do is I would get that person into a private spacer and have a one on one conversation with that person and get an understanding of what’s going on and specifically ask that person who exactly is bullying them, what they are saying to that person, and how it’s making them feel. I’d also give the person that’s being accused a chance to explain their side of the story as well, simply because it’s quite often these situations can potentially be caused by what other people say or do. After hearing both sides, I would attempt to tell the accused bully that the things they are saying/doing need to stop, but I’d also make it my concern with whatever may have triggered that bully to say those things, and I would attempt to work it out with that person. My ultimate goal in that kind of situation is to have the two people be at peace with each other rather than someone getting banned off the Teamspeak, and obviously this depends on the nature of the situation and what was exactly said and done. Explain some of the administrative features of TS3 and when they're used appropriately. Ban Client – Removes the player from the Teamspeak for a specified amount of time. If someone is refusing to follow the rules of the server after being warned to do so, then banning them for a short period of time should be sufficient if it’s a first time offense. However, in extreme situations, such as someone spamming racial slurs down the mic, a longer ban should be considered. Kick Client – Removes them from the server. Can be a very effective way as to warning someone. Moving Clients – Can move anyone from to a specified room in the Teamspeak. Before moving someone, you should be polite and considerate and ask them or notify them that you are going to be moving them to another channel before doing so. You should also be sure that the specific person has authorization to be in that channel, i.e. Meeting rooms, private spacers, etc. Priority Speaker – Designates someone as a priority speaker in the channel so their voice will be heard over anyone else talking. Should only be used in special circumstances, such as meetings and the host needs to speak. Set Server/Channel Group – Grants/revokes powers from any specific user in the Teamspeak. They should not be granted a specific group unless a server owner or a lead team member of that server grants the permission to do so. Why I should be chosen? A passion that I think I’ve strongly displayed around staff team members and regular players alike, and whether in meetings, in the server, Teamspeak, etc., is my care for players who have a struggling reputation in the community and try to work desperately to repair it. In my opinion, this is something that I think makes me stand out here. Having Teamspeak staff would help immensely with pursuing that passion in this community. What I wrote in the paragraph above is true when it comes to how I would handle a situation... I really do want to be that person that’s actively available in the Teamspeak for anyone to speak to and for help with their frustrations in the community, whether it’s for them being bullied, having an issue with a certain staff member, or just to hear out anything else on their mind that they really need to get out. I understand that Teamspeak grants a number of powers on the server, but I think it’s more than that. It shouldn’t just be out just following the rules and whatnot. It should also be about standing out as ambassador for anyone to speak to for something that they may need help with and generously giving them your time. As I’ve said, this is my ultimate passion in this community and I won’t let it go now. |
