I've been a moderator for almost a month now and I can confidently say it has been both educational and inspiring. In the past three weeks I've managed to handle every situation thrown at me to the best of my abilities and have never come across a negative response. I feel if I were promoted I could benefit the server greatly. Explain a situation as a moderator you encountered that was an obstacle you had to work around (EG: defiant user). While defiant users are no stranger to a moderator, I can recall a few events. Personally the biggest obstacle I tackled was a case of loopholing, where the player was adamant he could do these things while aware of the rule, but adding onto it in his own fashion, I found the best way to handle such a situation was to use my judgement as a staff member and point out that a staff's word is final. If you had to write a facebook post to train a moderator in between 200-300 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp? Warning: Spoiler! [ Click to expand ][ Click to hide ] Greetings and congratulations on becoming a brand new member of the ZARP staff team. I'm sure you're eager to get to it so let's not waste any time. The Menus: F1 will be your main menu that you use, it shows many useful things such as a list of the current players requesting help which you can interact with using right click, this is how you would handle a situation yourself. It also includes both a Warnings tab and a Logging tab. The Warnings tab contains a list of every player's record of being warned. In it you can find who issued the warnings, why and how many they have. Using the Logging tab you can find out pretty much anything you want to help make a sound judgement such as who killed who, who was arrested, wanted, etc. It's colour coded to help you sift through, you can also use a player's SteamID to help you sift through them. F6: The Punishment Menu: In here you can see every current player on the server's punishments, if they have any they will show up in this menu. You can also search through the punishments. Your Powers: Kick, Unban from Job, Freeze, Slay, Teleport, Goto, Bring, Back, Warn All powers can be used from the scoreboard in the TAB menu, simply click a player to go to their tab profile and you will see buttons for every power, you can also use chat commands if that suits you. Note that I use STEAMID here as it is failproof. Kick: Used to temporarily remove a player from the server Unban from Job: Used to unban a player from a certain job (EG randomly demoted) Freeze: Makes the player unable to move, also negates all damage to them, can be done for a certain amount of time or permanently. use /unfreeze to unfreeze the player. Slay: Kills the player, can be used as form of punishment. Warn: Used to warn a player, a player will get a certain amount of warnings before they will be removed from the server. Teleport: Move you to the location of your crosshair or when on another player's TAB profile used to teleport them to your crosshair. Goto: Used to go to a certain player's location from anywhere on the map. Bring: Bring's any player to you anywhere on the map. Back: Can be used to either move a player back to their location previous to being teleported to you or back to spawn. Explain how you would handle the following situation: Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that you banned them permanently for propspam, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be? Seeing as the player took the time and effort to appeal the ban on the forums, in both great detail and with sincerity I would greatly consider lowering the player's ban time to something temporary. Why I should be promoted (we recommend around 150 words). Well it's almost been a month since I joined the ZARP staff team and I can say I've been enjoying every minute of it. Coming from FP it felt just like home. The players and staff have shown to be friendly and deeply engaging in the server. I feel like I've gotten the ropes and I'm ready to move up to the next position. I've been thrown new obstacles to overcome and have found new friends to help me out along the way. That coupled with my personal experience of being an admin I feel have only improved my ability to moderate the server and I can confidently say that if I were to be promoted, it'd only benefit the server's stability and its player's fun and safety even more. |
