Admin Promotion:
When will it be appropriate to use the ban command:
The appropriate times to use the ban command can either be
minor offences done to an extent which warrants a ban or
major rule breaks that warrant harsher ban times. Depending on the situation from individual to individual I would use the ban command in the following ways:
- If the Individual is using hacks it is a permanent ban.
- If the Individual is warned continues doing so gets kicked and rejoins to continue breaking rules a minor temp ban will suffice. This often happens with players that just join the server to break rules (trolls). They get warned for it, ignore the warnings and avoid the punishments.
- If the Individual is mass disrespecting constantly and avoids gags/mutes by rejoining a temp ban is enough.
- If the Individual is being racist and gets warned to stop doing so (as well as warned with the command) and continues on being racist to get on peoples nerves a temp ban of decent length would be appropriate.
- If the Individual is threatening people and/or the server by claiming they are going to DDOS them/it or hack them/it then it is a permanent ban. (Depending on the context of the situation)
These are the situations that I can think of off the top of my head. There are more examples but of course this all depends on the
context of the situation.
The Ban command Isn't something to be used in all scenarios it is quite the opposite. When a situation deserving of a ban arises it is usually a
major offence and an easy decision.
There are however those cases with
repeat offenders who break a lot of
minor rules but keep on doing it after receiving multiple warnings. In this Scenario I would contact a Super Admin or a Head Admin before proceeding with the ban.
Explain any situation you had to work around in your time as a moderator. How could your promotion help this:
I have had several instances where the access to more command would have been beneficial in resolving the issue.
I have only ever needed the ban command once this was in a situation where there was a speed hacker on the server and I had to wait for an admin to come online to ban them.
These are the few scenarios I needed the following commands:
- Respawn Command:
This command is very useful on the map Atomic. The deaths often spawn without scythes. By slaying them and respawning them it fixes the problem and gives the death his Scythe back. However this should never be done when there are few people online or the other death is AFK. If done at this time the other death will die from auto AFK kill which registers the other Death dying, or the round will skip because there is only one death and he has been slayed (runners won). So it is a useful command used when the situation requires it.
- Spectate Command:
Extremely useful command. When you assume someone of rule breaking/hacking you need to spectate them to confirm your suspicions a lot of the time. The console shows buttons being pressed but it is not perfect. When the Issue requires the individual to be spectated it is usually a hassle to scroll through all the players to get to the individual. If you do so you usually miss most of what the player is doing before you actually get to him.
- Remove Warning:
It is not a command that is needed all the time but mistakes do happen. Sometimes mods warn the wrong person or for the wrong reason and having the remove warning command at hand would help with those and be an easy fix to the situation. However I would never use this command without valid proof that the warning is false/mistaken. This would be abuse.
- Csay:
This command would be useful to warn players not to exploit. Such as on family guy not to open Trash bin/Iron door. It isn't really needed but would be an easier way to warn players since it grabs their attention.
Why should I be promoted:
To start off I'd like to say that this community has really
grown on me. I
love the forums and the servers.
It has been a pleasure playing here. I feel I should be promoted to help the server in general.
A lot of the time there are
serious rule breakers on when admins are busy.
There aren't
always staff online and if I need to hop servers because somebody notifies me of people breaking rules it would help a ton if I had access to the admin commands that I listed above.
My activity has gone down the past week or so. This is not because I have lost interest I am still keeping my activity at a decent level. The previous weeks my activity was way higher because I was power leveling in Deathrun to get to the max rank as fast as possible and this involved playing A LOT.
Currently I still love Deathrun but I
also play Bhop a lot. You
do not need to worry when it comes to activity I can
always find time and the bare minimum of 4 hours (if I'm not mistaken) per week is an easy target at the worst of times.
I do not enforce rules to the
maximum, nor do I completely
ignore them. I believe being a good member of staff is finding a
balance between
peace in the server and
enjoyment of the game
for the players.
Thank you for taking the time to read this application.
