Minecraft IGN: codybest - Nickname: SamuraiSamurott (Friends old account, do not mistake me for someone else
)
Age: 13
How long have you been with the ZARP community?:
Since July 2014
Languages you are fluent in: English.
Location: England
Do you have any past experience in Minecraft server administration?:
Indeed I do, I used to be the co-owner of a Minecraft server that didn't get many players, but enough where people could actively break rules and grief other players.
A user AFK at the PvP line appears to be autoclicking (arm movement), how would you deal with this?:
I would teleport the user away from the PvP line and ask him his reason for breaking the rule, if he was a first offender and did not know the rules very well I would give him a gentle explanation of gentle server rules, if he is a regular offender I would warn him not to do so again and punish him accordingly.
A user has complained that a user actively PvPing at the gate is using forcefield (FF), how would you proceed with this accusation (assuming that you have a screen recorder, but no NoCheat plugin):
I would record the user until I had sufficient evidence that he was using a hack to benefit himself, I would then check over the evidence again incase I had mistaken hacking for another action and if I could prove that he was hacking I would give him an immediate ban and send him the evidence should he have a forum account.
A new user joins today, but within a matter of hours has a vast supply of highly enchantable items. What is the term for this suspicion, and how do you proceed to investigate?:
I would keep a watchful eye on the user whilst I have time available, and if he is using hacks that would give him an unfair advantage such as X-Ray I would immediately ban him as hacking is inexcusable, if the user happens to have a forum account I would send him the evidence to avoid any 'mod abuse' reports. I would also monitor how much ores the user has been mining as this could be further evidence that the player is using cheats.
Explain why a suspicion of a fullbright ability alone doesn't necessarily suggest client side modifications are present:
Suspicion alone does not suggest that client side modifications are present as there are other ways to this via the game:
1. There is a potion that can allow the player to see much better than he would be able to without the potion.
2. You can change your brightness settings in the minecraft options screen.
3. The user may have changed the brightness on his monitor.
Why I should be chosen (longer answer expected here - we recommend at least 80 words):
Hello, thank you for reading my app and getting this far. There are multiple reasons why I should be chosen which I shall list here.
- I have previous administrative experience on a minecraft server, as stated above I used to be the Co-Owner of a server run by a friend and one of my main tasks was to monitor players that were suspected of using modifications that would give him an unfair advantage over other players.
- I would be able to dedicate a lot of time to the server as gaming is one of my main passions and I have been playing Minecraft since Alpha, which means I have a lot of experience regarding the game which would be useful in helping new players. This will also make the staff team come across as friendly by being there to help players new to the server or even Minecraft itself.
- I would be able to attend the weekly meetings and if I wasn't I would present a valid reason for it as they are very important for the server and help with communication between staff. I would also not be bias towards friends and ban them should they be doing inexcusable things such as hacking.
