Applicant Review
Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario.
Random Death Match is killing of any player randomly via melee or ranged weapon. I list melee or ranged weapon specifically as anything else would be called otherwise.
An example of Random Death Match is a cop running down the road scanning random buildings for illegal activity, and a gangster snipes him from a third floor window because he thought that if the cop had seen him, he would be arrested.
Explain "New Life Rule" and give an example scenario.
The New Life Rule is an interactive part of RP that keeps role play going even after death, and gives players a reason not to die in a virtual world where you respawn. The New Life Rule applies to a player upon death, of which they must "forget" about anything that happened to them prior to the respawn. This includes not going back to point of death, and not meta-gaming, though most players meta game surprisingly unbeknownst to them.
Explain "Metagaming" and give an example scenario.
Meta-Gaming means to game "beyond" that of which applies to your Role playing scenario. Much of this is done through chat and can take a little while to be understood by a player that is not all too familiar with playing within a predefined set of rules and demanding level of self-control.
A player is looking for their friend to go on a raid, so he uses /ooc (Out of Character channel) instead of playing the role of the seeker and sending him a private message or "yelling". Meta gaming is monitored on this server but it is nearly impossible to track all forms of meta.
Scenarios
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for RDMing him, the console log shows that player y killed player x.
First off I would ask why player y killed player x, accepting the information already provided prior to taking action. Knowing that player y had killed player x is not enough information alone to take action. If it turns out that either player was ignorant of certain rules, I would merely inform them OF said rule and tell them to read !motd. If this trend continues, action will be taken according to the level of offense; every situation is different and no two people are the same.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for breaking NLR, the kills are pretty close together in console (a few lines apart) at a peak time
I would need more information, regardless of what console said. If the NLR was broken due to player X RDM-ing the accused, then no action will be taken and player X will be informed of the reasons as to why I can not act. If player X was being raided by player Y and the console showed proof, then depending on the situation I would take action according to the level of offense. Lastly if player Y was being raided by player X the same would apply.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x calls for help in the OOC chat because his bank is being raided.
Player X would have to informed or warned that /ooc is used for Out of Character context, and not for RP situations. I would then kindly inform said sir/ma'am that he/she/it must use /advert in order to keep it role play.
Why Brother Hampered should be moderator...
I first started Garry's Mod around a few months ago. I originally started on a simple build server with thousands of songs to choose from and many cool features and much freedom. I thought this to be extremely interesting but went sour as it became more and more apparent that I was spending more time researching how to build than I was playing the game! So la-de-da one day I am looking through the rows of different game play types there are for Garry's Mod, and BEHOLD! I found the "Dark RP". I was kind of cautious at first, seeing as Dark kind of gave my imagination for a whirl. I had no idea as to what to expect. I click on the list, and thousands of servers flood my list! I filter by max players and find ZARP. "Wow! this ZAP server sounds pretty cool! -derp Lightening bolt! Zap!" I join and the first thing I do is find the mine, of which Olu enslaved and worked me to near death, paying 100k for about 100 stone and gold. Of course, me being new, had to l2p.
Today I am a successful ZARP-RP enthusiast loving the staff, people, server, and yes, even the minges. Wanting to improve on my RP vocational skills and gain knowledge on how to handle situations, I preform many F1's (not to punish, but to INFORM players. I rarely ask anyone to punish ANY player I report, and I am sure some can vouch for me) and have sat in on over 40 F1 situations, thanks to AlleyCat and NOTsoSoxey. I believe that with my arsenal of knowledge and my solid wall of resolve, I can be a part of making this server an even greater, and smooth- running part of the Dark RP world. Thank you for your thoughts and time, I hope that this application has broadened your horizon as to who Hampered is!
