With my time as moderator I have learned what being staff on ZARP is like and I know it is something I want to pursue. It is a good group of staff and we all get along and have fun (for the most part). With being moderator I have learned how to deal with rule breakers and be a good staff on this server. However as a moderator you can only do so much. I feel I am mature enough to handle admin after my time as mod and yes on ts and in game I joke around a lot but when I'm dealing with an F1 or something staff related I keep it in order as I do not want to make a mistake or say something that will give ZARP a bad rep. As far as why I feel admin would be beneficial to me and to the server I would like to host a lot of events as I have built TDM areas in the non rp map areas but with being mod it is hard to host a large event as I cant no-clip into those areas so I usually host small events when the server population is very low with only a couple people on as it is much easier to handle. As far as handling rule breakers and F1's with my time being mod I cannot count the number of times I have wanted to cloak myself or spectate a player that is constantly breaking the rules and if you try to follow them they obviously aren't going to break any rules with a mod right there. All in all I would utilize the powers of admin greatly if I was granted this rank and I am mature enough not to abuse as it just ruins rp. Explain a situation as a moderator you encountered that was an obstacle you had to work around. I have encountered many defiant players in my time as moderator but none of them were an obstacle I had to work around because when I am handling F1's I dont bother to argue with the player that has broken the rules or discuss anything outside of the rule break. I simply inform them of what rule they have broken and that they should take this time to read the rules for future reference. I do not like it when F1's drag on forever and that is why I handle them like this as it is better for everyone that it is handled as simply and quickly as possible because it takes away from all of our time role playing and F1 situations should be kept short and simple as possible to prevent this. The only obstacle I encounter sometimes is a player prop spamming or prop blocking when there are no admins on to delete the props if the player refuses. However I simply freeze them, tp to them, and ask them to remove the props or be kicked (if prop spamming), and if they are prop blocking I simply show them the exact props that are prop block and ask them to remove them and fix it as I will even take the time to stay there until it is finished as to not let anyone raid and if they do not comply to remove the prop(s) I give them a warning I am going to kick them and if they still say no or do not comply I kick them. With the powers staff have whether it's moderator or admin there shouldn't be an obstacle you have to take forever to work around as we all have the necessary tools to handle an obstacle quickly and however we see fit. If you see it fit to argue with the player trying to convince them what is right and how they are wrong and that's your thing go for it as it sometimes works out (rarely) but I chose to handle it as simply and quickly as possible for there is just no need for it to drag on forever. If you had to write an email to train a moderator in between 200-300 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp? So many people just write out a list of the moderator commands and explain what they do for this section of the application. I see how this isn't necessarily wrong for this section but they are all in the tab menu and are pretty self explanatory so I am not going to go over the commands I am going to write more of a guide. Congratulations on being accepted as moderator you are now part of the ZARP community. From now on you must be careful as to how you act on the server because your actions are now a direct representation of the ZARP community and ZARP staff. You must act maturely with whoever you are dealing with even if it is a rule breaker that is being defiant and trying to argue with you try to stay calm and don't ever let your temper get the best of you. Handling F1's Now that you are a moderator you will be handling many F1's of all sorts. You must deal with these F1's maturely and in the right manner. You now use the F1 button to access the administrative center where before it was to submit a request. This administrative center allows you to see the logs of all the players on the server from who they have killed and with what to who started a demotion and why and basically you can monitor everything that is happening on the server. When you get an F1 request is is always a good habit to search the players name to see who may have killed them or demoted them and how long ago while they are explaining to you what happened as it will save you a lot of time rather than waiting for them to explain as it is easy to do both whether they are typing or through voice chat. Always make sure to get both sides of the story even if it is an nlr report and it shows that the said player was killed twice by the reporting player in a short amount of time and never assume things always go from what evidence you have and get both sides of the story. When you have determined a player has broken the rules do not treat them with any disrespect or anything along those lines. Inform them of what rules they have broken and ask them why they broke it whether it was because they were not aware of the rule of if they did it for fun as to better help this player. A command you will be using a lot of the time that is not in the tab menu is /warn. this is used to give a player a warning and 3= kick, 4=temp ban. ALWAYS warn them using their steam ID and never type part of their name as you may warn the wrong person (click it in tab to copy). Every rule break does not necessarily require the /warn system it may also be verbal for reasons such as the player is obviously very new to the server or Garry's mod and they simply didn't know better. You might also want to instruct them to read the rules at spawn if this is the case. General If a staff of higher rank pulls you aside to speak to you about a rule you may have broken or if you have incorrectly handled a situation the worst thing you can do is try to talk your way out of it. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes just learn from them its ok. If you ever feel like a situation is getting out of control or you feel you can't handle the situation or are uncomfortable for any reason don't be afraid to ask an admin or another staff for assistance by using /// or @ for admin chat (all staff can see). The last thing before you go on your way to being moderator is that the forums are a very helpful place and have many guides to going from a player to moderator and how to handle being a moderator once you have been granted the moderator rank or admin rank and so on and I will leave the links to all of those guides here. Again welcome to the staff team here at ZARP. Hope this guide helped you understand what being staff on ZARP is all about and how to handle your newly acquired rank. Have fun! Courtesy of Xhantium: Player to moderator guide - zarpgaming.com/index.php/1-1-darkrp/3776...r-to-moderator-guide Moderator helping guide - zarpgaming.com/index.php/1-1-darkrp/3635...erator-helping-guide Explain how you would handle the following situation: Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that you banned them permanently for prop spam, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be? If they put a great amount of effort into their un-ban appeal and they seem sincere about changing for the better I would shorten their ban time to a time I see appropriate as to still punish them but not for an excessive amount of time. I believe everyone should be given a second chance. However I do not mean I would shorten the ban time of all the first time people that have been banned. For example if they did not use the proper template I would instruct them to do so and if the only information they privileged was, "I wont do it again unban me pls" then I can clearly see that they did not put any time into it and I would instruct them to make a much longer thought out ban appeal if they wanted a chance to be accepted and un-banned or the ban time shortened. Why I should be promoted I feel I could benefit ZARP a lot more than I do now if I had the tools of the admin rank. I have always wanted to host events on ZARP when there were a lot of people on but as mod I have only been able to do so at night with very little people on. I have built TDM areas for use in the non rp areas of both servers and things like that but with being mod I don't have the ability to no-clip to the area or properly manage the kind of events I would want to host. However aside from that the main reason I think I should be promoted and why I want the admin position is the ability to handle rule breakers better. As an admin I would use the cloak and spectate commands a great deal as I have always wanted to monitor or keep an eye on a rule breaker but as mod it is impossible as I just follow them around and no one is going to break rules with a mod following them. As far as being able to phys-gun players and interact with all props I will be able to handle rule breakers and RDMing mutants better by just phys-gunning them to a roof rather than looking up there name teleporting up there and then teleporting them which by this time he has already RDM'd another person. As an admin I would be able to handle rule breakers better and keep an eye on them. Some admins as I have noticed feel that once they acquire the admin rank that they are above all the moderators and that they do not have to do F1's if there are mods on as I have seen many times an admin say "all staff do F1's" while they sit there continuing to role play and ignoring the F1's. I feel admins should be doing more F1's if anything because they have the tools to better handle them and be helping moderators that need props deleted and things like that. I feel I am easily mature enough to handle admin by now and would do a great job with the position. Yes on TS and in game I like to joke around and have fun but as mentioned before when it comes to staff situations and F1's I am very mature about going about it and handling it. Anyways thanks for reading I hope you don't see my time as moderator as being too short as it just depends on the person and their maturity level and knowledge of the rules and being staff etc. Thanks, Jack |

First and foremost, we'd like to thank you for making the effort to apply for a rank on the ZARP Semi Serious DarkRP. Your application has been discussed at an administrative meeting, and from there it has been voted on.
As the number of 'yes' votes exceeded the number of 'no' votes you received, you have been accepted. Towards the bottom there is a button leading you to a download of a 'welcome pack' (moreso intended for new moderators) - this will give you a brief insight into your duty and how to do it, but before we can give you your rank you will have to attend a training session. You can ask any superadmin for your training.. You need to attend a weekly meeting on our Teamspeak server (IP is 94.23.19.200), it would also be appreciated if you can click the banner in my signature and add me on steam so that we can manage the meetings more easily. Congratulations on behalf of the administrative team. |
