Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario.
Random Death Match or most commonly known as RDM is when a player decides to kill one or more players without a legitimate reason.
For example player A (Gun Dealer) wants to be the Mayor so he decides to kill player B (Mayor). Another non legitimate reason for RDM is if Player A kills Player B because player B has annoyed them in some way.
A Legitimate reason for using RDM would be if someone is attacking you so you kill them in self-defence, E.g. Payer A is walking down the street when all of a sudden Player B a mutant decides to start attacking him so player A shoots Player B in self-defence.
Explain "New Life Rule" and give an example scenario.
New Life Ruler or most commonly known as NLR is a rule that prevents your RP character from returning to their scene of death for three minutes and also from remembering who killed them or how they died.
The main case of people braking the NLR is due to raiding, for example, Player A (Gun dealer) is storing his stock in the back of his shop, Player B comes along and breaks in and decides to raid Player A’s store, Player A kills Player B and starts to search the store. As soon as Player A has spawned he runs over to his store (place of death) and decides to kill Player B in revenge to protect his stock. In this scenario Player A is breaking NLR because he has returned to his scene of death before the three minutes and then remembered who has killed him and then killed him (player B ) in revenge.
A Legitimate reason for breaking NLR is if you kill yourself with a prop during construction for example you fall of a roof or a prop flips out and kills you.
Explain "Metagaming" and give an example scenario.
Metagaming is when a player talks about an in character (IC) subject in the out of character (OOC) chat. Another example of Metagaming is if a player’s character glitches and can see through the wall and notices something that shouldn’t be there e.g. Player A (police) notices Player B (Gangster) has Money printers that are not in a bank, but has only seen this through a glitch in the wall. Player A then Makes Player B wanted without actually seeing the object (printers) themselves by raiding etc.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for RDMing him, the console log shows that player y killed player x.
The very first thing I would do is take both Player X and Player Y to a private and quiet area (such as a rooftop or room) so that we are able to discuss the situation without getting interrupted so that the situation gets resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible. I would then take it in turns to talk to both of the players one by one to hear their sides of the story, starting with player X as he was the one who sent the F1 call. I would then check what jobs each player had to see if Player Y actually committed RDM or if it was part of his RP role. I would then explain RDM rules to both of the players so that they are clear on what exactly RDM is and where it becomes breaking RDM instead of just a murder. After I check the players jobs and it comes back that Player Y was in fact playing a Hotel Manager for example, I would then explain to them their job roles and responsibilities and I would then follow it up with a warning. As RDM can seriosuly effect someones time playing.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x accuses player y for breaking NLR, the kills are pretty close together in console (a few lines apart) at a peak time.
I would ask Player Y the reasoning for returning and then explain to both Player Y and Player X the meaning of NLR. I would ask for both sides of the story to see if it is obvious who is breaking the rules, however with it being a peak time this could make it difficult to see so I would make sure to explain to both players NLR rules and give them and Informal warning just explaining that if I caught them again I would have to take the necessary action which would result in a warning. I would do this as I wouldn’t want to give someone a formal warning on the server without being 100% on who is in the write and who is in the wrong. After I let both players go I would keep a close eye on them for the rest of their time playing that day to make sure they are following the rules.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x calls for help in the OOC chat because his bank is being raided
I would send a message explaining that he can’t use the OOC chat for this kind of stuff, this way I wouldn’t be interrupting the raid which would be currently taking place in the bank as that wouldn’t be fair to them players taking part in the raid. After the raid is over I would take Player X to one side and explain to him about Metagaming and when he should and shouldn’t use the OOC box this way he will learn from his mistake. However if Player X has been playing on the server for a long time then I would give him a warning as he should know better and be the one setting an example to new players.
Why I should be chosen:
I believe that I should be chosen to be MOD because I would like to help out the server by giving up my free time to help new and veteran players on the servers so that everybody can have a fun, fair and enjoyable experience whilst RP’ing. I have been thinking about applying for a mod position for many months now but have never actually considered it but today I finally decided to take my chance at applying. With me not having commitments during the week having left school etc. it means that I am able to play at times when most of the MODS are offline, which is when the server is in a great need of MODS such as early in the morning and really late at night. This also gives people from different time zones the ability to experience our sever at its best if it is being moderated. I also feel that the server is in need of some more mods as the amount of F1 calls that the team of mods and admins currently receive is overwhelming and makes it very hard for them to respond as fast as people want and also to actually experience the game themselves. I have a good knowledge of playing on different RP servers as well from Zombie RP all the way to school Rp but it’s always the Zarp DRP I come back to. I also believe that i will be a fair moderator listening to everybody's side of the story and not just picking the favorites players side. I’ve waited to apply for a Moderator role for so long know but I finally believe that I have built up my knowledge from both a players perspective and from a moderators as I have been asking around a few of the Mods over the past weeks on things that will help me to become a good Mod so I have taking on board all their advice and am know waiting to use it.
Any questions or concerns you have please feel free to ask, and to the Mods that have taken time to speak to me about the Moderator role, Thank you! Keep up the good work Zarp team, ill hopefully be joining you soon.
Thank you for taking time to read my application.
