Hello again, JamieShields is back! Yes, I have been away from the Staff team for a long time but I never left the game. I have noticed over the past while that the Staff team are just losing that edge on those RDMers and Rulebreakers. We are in the summer now and Yes thats going to mean a whole pile of silly children here to ruin our fun. So I am back, with a vengeance to eliminate all those children who think this is a cheap Call of Duty. I am an adult, and I’m not letting this serious role-play server go to waste.

Estimated Server Time: I played 8 hours a day in my time, now its just a few hours each evening to try and grasp a little Roleplay before being pushed off by some mutant with 100 grenades.

Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario:

Random Deathmatching is the most annoying thing, that ruins gameplay for nearly about 100% of the server when they are trying to RP. Some little child decides that he/she (sometimes we don’t even know what sex they are) uses the newly added weapons on a bunch of normal working class people. This is in a complete random fashion without any purpose or cause.

We all hate it, and it should be clamped down with a firm hand because sadly any Roleplay is terminated once an RDMer does that.


Explain "New Life Rule" and give an example scenario:

New Life Rule is an essential rule for Dark RP to function. When you die, you will respawn as a new person/life. Although we still own our houses/props/entities, we need to act in a Roleplay sense that we are someone new. This can be role-played as a new family member or friends but means you must stay away from that area until the set time at the top of your screen has ended. Its really annoying and sometimes you feel is really stupid but is there to keep the Roleplay flow up and going.

Explain "Metagaming" and give an example scenario:

Meta-gaming Thankfully has really terminated itself in most experienced Dark RP players. We all should know the difference from using an in game voice chat, to an out of game voice chat. Differnet announcements that are located within game are role-play based, and server control based. Mostly only new players will get confused with what each side is used for but this can be easily explained to them, when they break this rule.

Sometimes Metagaming can also be dictional to using another from of Voice Communication other than direct. For example, in a Strict Roleplay sense anything said in Teamspeak/Skype can’t be used within game. Sadly, because the in game functions of Gary’s Mod aren’t completely correct, most people will stick using their other communication programs to communicate about in game happenings.


Explain how you would handle the following situation: RDM

RDM - Random Death Matching. Contains 1 or more people.
IN the case of an RDM, there is only one safe way to handle the situation. I need to get to that situation fast because server logs move so fast you might lose them. Once both parties are found, bringing them to a quiet location to discuss what the problem is, is next. After finding if the complaint is true then giving out the appropriate punishment is necessary.

There are so many calls of RDM in a normal hour of server play therefore, cracking down hard on those people who are out just to ruin other peoples gameplay, is necessary.

Explain how you would handle the following situation:NLR

If NLR has been broken, (using the admin check). The person should be told about the NLR rule. People don’t usually follow by this rule so therefore it needs admins discretion to see if the story is credible.

Most times, NLR has been broken because the other party has broken a rule first which meant ‘if that person breaks rules, I will too” … This usually leads on to several rule breakers being found. However, sticking to the first come first served policy, to get the job done efficiently.


Explain how you would handle the following situation:MetaGaming

Metagaming is an easy fix most of the time. It usually is spotting that someone is using OOC when they should be using ADVERT or vice versa. We need to be able to pick up on that and inform the users that they are doing wrong and how not to do it next time. If this is done on OOC other users will pick up on this and refrain from doing this.

As i said before, this is commonly only a new user/inexperienced user that would do this, therefore would not happen that often.

Why I should be chosen (longer answer expected here - at least 150 words):

People may read this, and think “I have never saw this guy before!!” Yes! you haven’t. I am an old admin and want to come back as an Admin to attempt to give you some back up support with some old techniques. Staff are having to deal with Summer kiddies that are only here to ruin everyone else’s fun and they should be treated with a back hand slap!

I am coming on to a server which I used to play every hour on, and we had the server under control. I want that back, for the Staff and for the community. I am not saying that the current staff are doing a bad job, but as they read this, they can remember back to that time when they really were put under pressure or that we brat killed your friends while you were on another Support Case. Someone with a firm hand and mind is required to sort out those children from the Serious Roleplayers as it used to be.

Think about able to come on and every single person roleplaying, having fun and finding some weird and wonderful situations from this. Thats what my memories show me. However, I want to reinstate my memories bringing something new into the community again.

I will be on the Teamspeak every so often, and will do the best that I can when I am on, but thats all anyone can offer as can I. We are volunteers and want to keep the reputation to the highest for the server which i think has been lost over the past few months!

Lets get this show back on the road and have the servers packed out with keen role-players and not slot hogging, childish RDMers!
