How do you feel that your time as an administrator has contributed to becoming a super administrator:
My admin experience is somewhat similar on Surf as it was on Prop Hunt; as admin you deal with situations with players breaking the rules after receiving multiple chances and warnings to stop. These situations teach you how to deal with people. You learn to pay attention to your own actions as well and how you choose to respond to situations can significantly affect the outcome. As such, you learn to remain calm, choose your words wisely and try understanding situations from the other person’s perspective as well.
What makes you a good candidate for the super administrator team? ( in this part you can go as detailed as you want ):
Experience
I have been asked by Mix3rz, euan, George and Sally to apply. I currently hold the rank of Super Admin on Prop Hunt. I am a person that likes to complete tasks and handle situations diligently and thoroughly. Once I understand how certain procedures work I know how to get things done. I also have experience in dealing with people and difficult situations; it’s a prerequisite of my profession. As far as in-game is concerned I am familiar with the commands and various situations confidently enough to explain how to use them.
Dedication
I have consistent activity because I enjoy playing on the server and with the players who make it interesting and enjoyable. I respond to staff requests and waste no time joining the server to handle a situation if need be.
Communication
I communicate with people regularly on the server. I enjoy helping new players. On more serious situations I focus on dealing with them tactfully.
Explain a situation as an administrator you encountered that was an obstacle that required the help of a lead team member but you had to work around it when no lead team member was available:
On Surf there hasn’t been a situation as an admin that I couldn’t handle. As admin you have all the necessary tools available to handle a situation. Other staff members are also engaging and active on the server so it’s easy to ask for help or just a different perspective if necessary.
Explain how you would review and handle an abuse report against another staff member:
I would review the appeal with the evidence provided. I would then consult the staff member to get the events from his/her perspective. I would determine whether the actions from the staff member justify abuse of power or not.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member bans a user for an excessive amount of time, how do you approach the staff member to ensure that everyone is treated fairly?
I would ask the staff member first to explain why the user was punished excessively. If by mistake/error/misunderstanding I would clarify what would be more appropriate in future to prevent the reoccurrence of this happening. If it is due to impulse or anger I would remind the staff member that they need to handle situations objectively.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member is dealing with a user but is struggling to do so in an appropriate manner. How would you resolve the situation?
If the difficulty the staff member is having is minor I would ask the staff member that I assist with handling it so that they remain present and learn how to improve in dealing with the given situation.
If the situation is tense and hostile I would ask the staff member to remove themselves from the situation and have myself or another staff handle it. Once the situation is addressed I will speak to the staff member to see why they were having trouble with the issue and whether/how these skills can be improved
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member accuses another staff member of breaking rules, how would you help resolve the situation?
I would speak to the staff member making the accusation first, understand the situation and request for evidence if possible/necessary. If no evidence is available I will have to monitor the situation until I can get the facts of the situation. Depending on the extent of rule breaking I will consult the staff member and verbally warn them of their actions and the consequences should they do this again in future. If the situation is more severe I will present the evidence to the lead team to determine whether an emergency demotion is necessary.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
A staff member acts in a disrespectful manner towards another staff member and or sparks an argument within the staff team. How do you resolve the situation?
I would remind the staff member that their conduct is not acceptable and tell them they need to consider their actions and how they choose to address people. I would also address the argument with other staff members if necessary, see what is the argument, if has any merit or not and how it can be resolved.
Explain in detail how you would act in the following situation:
You spot a staff member breaking rules to the point of harming other users, how do you approach the staff member?
I would remove the user’s access rights to prevent them from further harming other players. I will address the actions of the staff member privately with them to determine why they chose to act poorly. If the staff member is too hostile, I will consult the lead team regarding the actions of the staff member in order to determine whether an emergency demotion is necessary.
