NB:
This application is essentially the same as my bhop Head Admin application. The servers go hand in hand as they are owned by Mix3ers’ and any improvements that can be made to one can be made to the other. As such, after speaking to ChuteUK, I decided that a lot of this application shouldn’t be changed. My aim and work around this server is the same as bhop. I intend to do the same job on both servers and see them grow and improve together.
Since I’ve been bhop HA I’ve worked on a lot of suggestions and improvements for both servers with Mixers’, tirelessly monitored their progress and will continue this further. Alongside this I feel like I have provided a great structure to meetings, a larger presence for bhop and surf in the community as well as becoming a strong leader for the servers and creating a large, strong and dedicated staff team, and as such wish to continue this pattern with this new position.

About me

Hello, I'm Euan and hopefully you've seen me on bhop or surf over the last couple of months. I'm from the UK and am currently in my fourth year at university studying Economics. Outside of this my hobbies include DotA 2 and sports; I love mountain biking and kayaking and also watch a lot of football, rugby and formula 1. I been playing GarrysMod since 2012 where I fell in love with TTT and ended up co-owning a server for a couple of years. After this I wanted to run my own server and ran a two servered TTT community for about 8 months before stopping due to my GCSE exams clashing with the work I had to do on the server. I dabbled in and out of servers for a bit from then due to my A-levels being my priority and needing a break from TTT after playing for a number of years. Following that I found bhop in 2018 where I truly fell in love with some communities and players and have been hanging around there (like a bad smell) ever since! I joined zarp late in 2020 and have really come to like some of you guys, I'd love to put even more of my effort and expertise into the surf server and turn it into a product that zarp can be truly proud of.

My Vision

Since joining zarp I have realised that both surf and bhop are underappreciated, unloved gems that needs the same dedication as all the other servers; I want to give them that. On surf over the last couple of months, I have been working closely with Mix3ers’ working out new maps and discussing improvements and changes that could best improve our server. Continuing this trend, I believe plenty of opportunity is out there for further development, whether it be record bots, new maps, surf exclusive pointshop rewards there is a lot that can be done.

Why Me?

As I have already alluded to, I have experience owning servers. This has developed skills such as team management, development of ideas both front- and back-end and forum and administrative understating. As well as this I have LUA experience and have worked on a couple of addons that have been sold on the old gmodstore.
Outside of this experience I believe I am a very level-headed, calm and understanding person, and I hope that you will agree that my knowledge of GMod as well as my management skills lends to me being able to assert confidence in the behaviour and standard of the future staff team. Additionally, I want to instil a faith that surf will receive consistent updates and improvements as and when it is necessary.

Zarp Career & Activity

Since Nick recommended to me that I consider applying for staff in November last year I have been an active user on the forums, teamspeak and discord. I have made plenty of friends on zarp and truly love the place and as such I’m am eager to give back. I also am extremely helpful, diligent and easy to talk to which in turn has combined well with my staff responsibilities on both bhop and surf.
On both these servers I have not only taken a lead role in suggesting with the CM’s and Mix3rs’ on how the server can be developed but have shown a great level of ability when undertaking my day-to-day staffing activites. I hope my fellow staff can testify to this.
