Estimated Server Time: 152 hours of duty dedicated to my beloved Prop Hunt server.
Languages I speak: Italian and English.
Explain how you feel that your time as a Moderator will contribute to you becoming an Admin:
Although I have only been within Zarp's staff for 11 days I feel like I have handled every situation a moderator can deal with in the best way possible, I am always sure to collaborate with fellow staff members (Teamspeak, Admin chat, Discord) to ensure proper conduct and fairness in dealing with rule-breakers. With my past experience on other servers I quickly grasped all the commands and duties allowing me to be always on the lookout for players who may be rule-breaking and assisting newcomers who may need help (Taunt menu, Point Shop, Rotation lock, VIP & Rules). I really want to do more for the server, to relieve a part of the work from my fellow staff members, and to prove myself trustworthy.
Explain a situation in which it would be appropriate to use the ban command:
The ban command would be appropriate to use with players that threaten the fairness of the game and enjoyment of all players on the server, after staff tries in every way possible to explain to the player (through PMs, Warnings and Kicks) the rules he/she has been breaking. After multiple attempts to make them stop a ban will be inevitable.
Due to the various scenario we can encounter and the severity, the correct amount of ban-time can be decided by taking account of previous behaviours, warns and bans.
Most commonly, players change their behaviour or problems can be solved easily. However, Ghosting, exploiting, spamming, racism, sexism and harassment can and
will continue down to the moment a player will be banned. Of course this doesn't mean that staff can be "trigger-happy" with bans, ban decisions have to be taken with the upmost
caution and
respect for the rules and with the understanding that bans can be appealed on the forum. Evidence must be gathered to ensure oversight by fellow staff.
If you had to write a letter to train a moderator in between 100-200 words, what would you say to give them the full grasp?:
Welcome and congrats on becoming a staff member of the best Zarp server!, as a Prop Hunt moderator you will see yourself dealing immediately with ghosters so be on the lookout for any suspicious activity, rule-breakers can be around every corner so whenever you will feel unsure on what to do you can contact a fellow staff member and ask for advice. We are always there for you.
Remember that is your duty to keep the game fair and fun for everyone! Ensure to be on the look out for problems like: ghosting, exploiting, spamming, racism (via text or microphone but even web taunts so be sure to have hunters taunts enabled). Of course for all problems there is the right solution! You will find all the commands you may need in your ULX menu and warn menu, accessable by typing in chat !warn. This will let you give official warnings to rule-breaking players. Here's an overview of commands which will help with you deal with every scenario:
Ghosting:
If you feel someone may be ghosting the commands you will be using are 5:
Friends this command is the first step to determinate if someone is ghosting, it is located in the ULX menu under the section "Utility", it allows you to quickly check if a player has friends in the server.
Checkspec this command is also located in the "Utility" section of your ULX menu and allows you to know who a player is spectating in that exact moment.
Psay this command located in the "chat" section of your ULX menu will allow you to send a private message to verbally warn or educate a player. In the case of ghosting, verbally warning a player is the first course of action to try to stop them from doing so.
Forceteam this command also located in "Utility", allows you to force a player into a different team. Once you use this command it means you have concluded that the player is ghosting, they ignored your verbal warnings so a official warn will be given along with this command.
Kick this command located in "Utility" will kick out a player from the server. If you ever kick a player it means they ignored your multiple verbal and official warnings and continued to break the rules. This command applies to every situation when it is impossible to deal with a player in any other way, this command is also your last resort as moderator since the ban command is unaccessable to you.
Exploiting:
If you catch a player exploiting in any way the commands you will be using are 3:
Psay Use it to contact the player and ask them to stop exploiting, explain why u are contacting them especially in case of hiding in illegal spots or out of boundaries.
Teleport This command is located in the "Teleport" section and allows you to teleport any player where you are currently looking, use it to teleport a player when stuck.
SlayThis command is located in the "Fun" section of your ULX menu and will kill instantly props or hunter (can be used in case of door blocking) alike, you may be forced to use it if players ignore your warnings.
Spamming:
In case of a player spamming chat or microphone the commands you will be using are 3:
Tmute this command is located in the "Chat" section of your ULX menu and allows you to mute, for an adjustable period of time, a players written chat.
Tgag this command also present in the "Chat" section will instead allow you to mute the voice chat of a player for an adjustable period of time.
Amute also located in "Chat" section it will allow you to prevent a player from spamming our Admin chat wich is only visible to staff members.
Racism/Sexism:
In this case the commands you will need are the ones mentioned in the Spamming scenario plus this one:
WebTauntMute this command is located in the "Chat" section and allows you to deny a player to use web taunts, in case they are offensive, racist or sexist. You will be able to easily locate a taunt in your console so you can see which player used it and act accordingly.
There are other commands at your disposal which you will learn to use as you go on, oh and don't forget about the F6 menu wich allows you to review any player warn history, think of it as a book of naughty players.
Explain how you would handle the following situation:
Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that Staff Member x banned them permanently for Exploiting, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?
Everyone deserves a second chance so before doing anything I will ask, seperately, the Staff Member X their side of the story every detail: warns, behaviour, basically everything that brought to the moment of the ban.
After that i will listen to the Player X side of the story trying to understand the truth, I will ensure neutrality with both and if the players deserves to be unbanned I will still recommend to not break any more rules because it will lead to another ban and this time it will be really hard to come out of it.
Why I should be promoted (we recommend around 100 words):
As an admin I feel like I will be able to do much more for the server, I have been really active and I have tried my best to do my job as moderator. I'm not gonna hide that I aim for even more than admin rank I would apply for server owner if only I had more time to dedicate. I want to prove myself and improve the server in any way I can. Moderating a server for me means to take care of it by getting to know every veteran player and my fellow staff members but also trying to come up with suggestions and improvements in order to make Prop Hunt even more fun and popular.
I'm 27 years old now and I see myself as a mature guy, I got plenty of experience in this matter now and i'm sure by staying on Zarp's community I will be enriched with new experiences and knowledge about Garry's Mod and all the work that's put behind it everyday.
